ROLLS-ROYCE HAS MADE THE TRENT XWB-84 EP THE NEW STANDARD FOR THE A350-900 The Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 Enhanced Performance (EP) is proving that even a highly successful engine can still be improved. Originally targeting around a 1% fuel-burn reduction, the XWB-84 EP has reportedly delivered savings closer to 1.8% in service, with Delta among the airlines reporting strong results. The improvements come without changing the engine’s basic architecture, meaning it remains compatible with the existing A350-900 wing pylons. Rolls-Royce focused on areas including airflow optimization, cruise performance and internal cooling efficiency to squeeze more efficiency from the proven design. The results have been significant enough that Rolls-Royce has retired the baseline XWB-84 from new sales campaigns, with the Enhanced Performance version now becoming the standard offering for new A350-900s. See how the autothrottle works the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. TBH, the pilot flying only took control a couple of miles before the runway. The automation and avionics on this aircraft are second to none. Finnair A350 landing in Hong Kong. 📹: paulstewart2ndchannel(YouTube)

A louder rumble in Rocket City! We just completed our first BE-4 engine hotfire test at the historic Test Stand 4670 in Huntsville. We also continue to test BE-4 engines at our Texas facility. The BE-4 engine produces 550,000 pounds of thrust and is our most powerful engine yet.

In a recent hotfire our BE-3U engine reached more than 211,500 lbf thrust. That makes BE-3U the highest thrust-to-weight hydrogen engine in history, at more than 90! Here is the video of that test for your enjoyment.

📽️SchwaltzWalt

What’s hotter than a Texas summer? Our Miranda engine.🔥 We fired our Miranda engine at full power for 226 seconds— that’s almost 4 minutes! This endurance test verifies that the engine can perform beyond the nominal flight duration, meaning this engine is one step closer to being ready for flight. Seven of these Miranda engines will generate the thrust needed to lift our Eclipse rocket off the launch pad and propel it into orbit.

Studies show ground engineers losing hearing.. this A350 XWB power-up proves why Shot this A350 XWB power-up on pneumatic air yesterday. Turn the volume up... it's loud as hell even from where I was standing. Been doing this job long enough to know what that does to your hearing over the years. Studies on ground engineers and maintenance crews show the damage: about 15% in the under 30 group, 42% in the 30-39 group, and 80% at 40+. Another crew hit 41%. High frequency stuff mostly, but it adds up and a lot of older guys end up needing aids. Use your protection every time.
