According to reports by Punch Newspaper, the President reportedly advised media leaders to remove stories about terrorism from newspaper front pages. If that is indeed the proposal, it raises an important question: can reducing the visibility of terrorism in the media contribute meaningfully to solving the insecurity facing the... country? The fundamental issue is that terrorism is not a media problem; it is a security problem. Removing reports from front pages does not remove terrorists from our forests, communities, or highways. It does not address the root causes of insecurity, nor does it bring relief to victims and affected families. A lasting solution requires confronting and defeating those responsible for the violence, restoring security in vulnerable areas, and ensuring that citizens can live without fear. Public awareness of the problem may be uncomfortable, but obscuring it is not the same as solving it. Of course, the President has access to intelligence and security briefings that many of us do not, and he may have reasons for believing this approach could be helpful. However, from my perspective, it is difficult to see how reducing media coverage of terrorism advances the broader goal of ending the threat itself. Perhaps there are considerations unknown to the public. If so, one can only hope that they form part of a comprehensive strategy that delivers real and lasting security for Nigerians. The Presidency says one man allegedly created a fake federal agency. It found its way into the national budget. It received public funds from a budget signed by the President. It operated from the Federal Secretariat. It met National Assembly leaders. It even engaged foreign ambassadors. Today, Nigerians are being told the agency never existed. If that is true, this is no longer just about fraud. It is a national security failure. This is either a lie or a national security disaster that reflects the current state of our intelligence and oversight administration. Think about what it means. An entity that allegedly did not exist was able to pass through layers of government without anyone stopping it. If the institutions at the centre of power could not detect it, how are they expected to stop terrorists, bring our school children home safely from abductors, fend off organised criminal networks or foreign actors exploiting the same weaknesses? This goes beyond one individual. It exposes a state whose oversight systems may have failed at multiple levels. Nigeria does not have only a corruption problem. It has an institutional problem. There has to be accountability. There has to be reform. Where failures are established, people should be held responsible. This should also trigger a serious national conversation about fixing the systems meant to protect the state before the next breach is even worse.

Do you think that by the folly of man, the glory of God can be diminished? . I tell you, no kingdom of this earth, no rebellion of heart, no blasphemy of tongue can ever tarnish the majesty of the Almighty. His glory is not made by the hands of men, nor is it undone by their defiance. . Consider the arrogance of those who refuse to kneel, who claim that their disbelief can unmake the Creator. They are like madmen in a darkened cell, scratching the word ‘darkness’ upon the walls as though, by their crude mark, they could blot out the sun. But tell me, does the sun diminish because it is unseen by the blind? Does its light falter because a lunatic curses its name? No, my friend. The sun remains, burning with relentless brilliance, giving life to all who dwell beneath it, whether they acknowledge it or not. . So it is with God. His glory is eternal, unshaken by the denial of men. He is the architect of the heavens, the One who breathed life into dust and set the stars upon their courses. The objection by the representative of India to Pakistan's mention of Jammu and Kashmir in the Arria Formula meeting was not surprising to us. India, as a party to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, has actually refused to implement the Security Council resolutions on this dispute, and has even refused to cooperate with the United Nations, including the good offices of the Secretary-General, and with all those mechanisms that form part of Chapter VI. As I stated in my statement, Kashmir is an international dispute. It is on the agenda of the Security Council. It was never a part of India, and it is not, and cannot be, part of India — because this was the core question at the heart of these Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir. The purpose was to determine the status of this territory: whether it wishes to be part of India or Pakistan. That status has not yet been determined, because the resolutions have not been implemented. To assert that Kashmir is a part of India is, in fact, itself a violation of the relevant Security Council resolutions. If God is not in control of this completely, then how and when will He get the knowledge and the power to get it under control? But the God of the Bible is in complete control of evil for His own purposes. It is really heresy to say that the world is full of evil apart from a predetermined plan and purpose by God that is far above the willy-nilly choices of people. So, what do we know up to now? Let me ask you a simple question to help you answer the question - the bigger question: is God more glorious because of sin existing or less glorious? Pretty easy question to answer, isn’t it? That really is the ultimate question. Throughout all the eons of eternity, will God receive more glory from His creatures because sin existed or less? And, friends, that’s really all that matters, is the eternal glory of God. So, it’s fourth down, and we’re on the ten-yard line, and I’m pulling out the winning play and we’re going for six for the victory. Turn to Romans 3 - and I want you to track with me a little bit; can’t take time to develop all of this, but I’m going to give you a good start. Wish I could build context; we don’t have time. But let’s look at chapter 3 and verse 5. Opening statement: “But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say?” Grab that phrase: our right - unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God. And Paul uses the first of a series of verbs; this one happens to be sunistēmi, translated demonstrates in the New American Standard. It is a verb that means to disclose, to reveal, to put on display, to show. Our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God. Another way to say that would be, would you really understand the righteousness of God if you didn’t understand unrighteousness? Isn’t there something to be gained by the contrast? Paul has been showing that God is faithful to His promises to Israel, and their sin and unbelief cannot alter God’s covenant, cannot alter God’s faithfulness.

This is the Islamic Republic’s definition of diplomacy. Empowering it now would prolong repression inside Iran and instability across the region. The Islamic Republic is not a legitimate government; it is a threat to global security. So, it is surprising that the German government intervened to cancel an opposition figure from taking part in the Munich Security Conference. I strongly condemn such efforts to cancel dissidents and activists. Because the Islamic regime does not represent the people of Iran. The regime has systematically executed, imprisoned, and tortured its citizens for over four decades. Beyond Iran, the Islamic Republic exports violence through its proxies, from Hezbollah to the Houthis. Any deal with the government in Iran will fund more terrorism, not peace. The Iranian people, not the regime, must be the West’s partner. The people of Iran have shown, in nationwide protests from 2009 to 2022, that they reject this regime.
