last night I wrote a song in honor of Voddie and a life well lived: "GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.” To me, Voddie was a personal friend and mentor. I can honestly say that I would not be the man I am today without his leadership. As a late teen, I learned of Voddie from a distance; his ministry equipped me with certainty that if ever I were to have children, that it is my responsibility-not the government's-to educate them. His ministry also initiated my journey as an independent researcher. I later got to have an actual friendship with Voddie. We spoke frequently and he would often text me funny memes, share articles and books I should read and give me feedback on things I was working on. Voddie lived a life that was unapologetically devoted to the Lord, and now he is with the Lord. I will see you again one day in glory, friend. Godspeed.

As prediction market betting becomes more prevalent in nearly every aspect of American culture, journalist and author David Hill says not everything needs to turn into a "betting proposition." "I don't think that it makes a lot of sense for us to want to turn every single proposition in American culture and life into a betting proposition," he told PBS News' Geoff Bennett. "But I do think there's clearly a market for it." Hill added that America needs to "reckon" with the rapid rise of prediction markets and put regulations around the industry to protect people and prevent "large-scale corruption." When you’ve been in the markets for as long as I have, you tend to become a hyperrealist. I’m not idealistic so I don’t get demoralized by things that happen. Instead, I view everything as a learning experience. Things that happen are interesting and informative and can tell you a lot about the various systems at play. That’s my view in general, and it’s also how I feel about the decisions that continue to raise the US debt.

This week I got to interview Hamish McArthur for Climbing Gold. One of the interesting nuggets was that he said one of his gifts as a climber (besides being the first person to climb V17 in a session…) was his ability to quickly assess and learn from his movement. It inspired me to start videoing attempts on the board, and lo and behold I sent a few things with subtle tweaks to body position, etc. I guess I may have to join modernity and start using video as a tool more…

Joe Rogan says he called Theo Von to apologize for his comments last week where he voiced concern for Von’s mental health. Rogan admitted he did a huge “disservice” to Von and it came across as though he was “throwing his friend under the bus.” ROGAN: “Then it comes out, like Theo has to defend it and then I called him up and I said, dude, I’m so sorry.” “I didn’t even think of that, and that’s very selfish of me. I didn’t think that you would have to respond. I didn’t even think of it.” “Theo is one of my favorite people...the last thing I would ever want to do is hurt that guy and the last thing I would ever want to do is say something that would have people think about him in a negative way.” “Which I’m sure I did. Jaxson is one of our leaders - he's the face of our franchise. He represents himself and what he does, and he represents all of us. If he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it's my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on to not only show my teammates that I'm against that, but to show the world.
