Actor and longtime woodworker Nick Offerman says he has a "responsibility" to continue making things by hand as the world becomes more automated. "The whole point of being human is that I have this incredible set of skills," he said. "I have a brain, I have coordination, I can read a language, and I can then write that language, and that manifests the knowledge and culture that I have grown up learning." "Using tools and using my hands to make things allows me to participate as a citizen of the world in an active way that I consider even a responsibility," he added. While most college freshmen spend their year shopping around courses and picking their majors, Theo Baker (Theo Baker) had a bit more on his plate. As a reporter for the Stanford Daily, Theo’s investigation into research misconduct brought about the resignation of Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne. Baker chronicles that investigation and a secretive culture of access, money and Big Tech influence on campus in his new book, “How to Rule the World: An Education in Power at Stanford University.” @IAmAmnaNawaz spoke with him about the book recently.

A new NPR investigation found that the Justice Department withheld portions of the Jeffrey Epstein files that contain allegations involving President Donald Trump. Material tied to claims that Trump sexually abused a minor and some pages mentioning him were removed from the public record, the investigation revealed. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee responded that the Justice Department's withholding of information could amount to a crime. In response, the White House told NPR that Trump has "been totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein." For more on the investigation and fallout, Geoff Bennett (Geoff Bennett) spoke with Julie K. Brown, investigative reporter for The Miami Herald, whose reporting helped expose much of the Epstein network.
