Stephen A. Smith recently clarified a statement made during an appearance with Sean Hannity. At the time he seemed to agree with Donald Trump’s thoughts on black voters. Based on SAS’ platform it was an important statement of accountability. That would not be a representation of our entire community, & many 100% disagree! Black Americans can’t make criminal decisions & be the President. Nor does probable cause = skin color. Trump has relegated black voters to the lowest common denominators of criminality & materialism. If I had to do address Robert Griffin III again I wouldn’t include his wife. She didn’t need to be made an example of in order to make my point. I could have easily pointed to the positive impact a connection with black women had on the way you see, understand, & treat them. Brooklyn-based FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller was on his way to play golf with his brothers after finishing his shift for the day. Over his scanner, he heard that a plane had hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Stephen immediately called his wife, asked her to tell his brothers that he would catch up with them later, and went to retrieve his gear. Unable to use his vehicle to get to the Twin Towers, with 60 pounds of equipment on his back, he ran through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel to the scene. Stephen lost his life in ultimate sacrifice to his country and fellow citizens. His memory will forever live on.

It brought me back to an episode of Pivot Podcast when Alexis Ohanian 🗽 shared Serena Williams’ child birth story. She nearly lost her life as she diagnosed herself. Multimillionaires & one of the greatest athletes ever fighting for her life all because she was a black woman in this country. These lessons educate, shape, & mold perspective. I never thought raising men to be men would be a problem. Maybe, it was Anthony Mackie’s phrasing on the “Death of the {American} male” that ruffled feathers, but I raised my son to be a man too. Genesis 2:15 states, "The LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it". A man is supposed to provide and protect his own. Now, masculinity & femininity are into energies which aren’t specific to gender, but I want my son to he the man of his household. He should sacrifice to care for his family, & he definitely shouldn’t ask his wife to go check on the loud sound outside. If he’s raised right he’ll know he isn’t always right. He’ll respect a woman’s body, mind, & spirit while making sure she gets to live in the energy she chooses. I could be wrong too. A black man pulls up into his driveway in an affluent Ohio Neighbourhood only to find a white Karen on his porch, telling him that she didn’t believe that he lived there. She then proceeds to run away from him, screaming that he’s chasing after her which he wasn’t… later the husband comes back with the wife to retrieve the stroller that she left on his front porch. She has an explanation, but I’m not buying it…
