Added some more automation to my magazine rig ๐ Using drivers i'm able to enable the property, as soon as the magazine gets close to the threshold. It has its limits, but from animating just one bone and a property, i think it's pretty good! #blender #rig #rigging

@Pavel_Oliva ..i have spent way too much on the internet

Do you have a tutorial? For thisโฆ

Not yet ๐ i'm not very good with video tutorials and my mac struggles to record video + voice, but i'll see what i can do!

Honestly, don't do both if your system struggles. Record the video track without audio, then record the audio track, layer it in KdenLive or your editor of choice, and then push it out to a render farm or some such. Also you may be able to use a free render farm if you use Blender as your video editor. E.g.

@eMediaTweets @Nock3d Ah thank you! That's really helpful, i appreciate it

This would be awesome in VR games. The current โsnap to gunโ approach is kinda jarring

stop lying to yourself we know what that is for

Hmm

WHAT thats cool asf

Thanks ๐

would it work the same with sheathes

I think so! It might be difficult to implement it onto a curved sword though. There might be a workaround to rotate the limit bones with the curve, but i haven' experimented with that.

pretty friggin tuff

COuld you explain the principles perhaps? I wanna try recreating this in Maya

Sure! I'll try to give more detail in another post, but the general idea is. You have 4 bones that define the slot size, and another 4 on the magazine, using floor constraints you can lock them in that slot. You can then use a damped track and copy rots to allow more alignment

Damn, nice work

That's pretty damn sweet!

That seems very handy!!

can the "Enable Helpers" also be keyframed?

Yes! It can be toggles on and off whenever, and also appears in the graph editor

I thought this was for a steam engine at first

Does it also work with cylinders?

That's awesome! I want to make a mechanism like that for a sword. Can you give me a few tips?

cool

Freakin awesome man! Keep up the ingenuity!

Oh yeah baby stick it in there
