Getting even closer, but it's not quite there yet... The property needs to be automated with drivers, which also needs to account for the oval shape and its pivot😵‍💫 But i think this is a step in the right direction. #blender #rigging

When modelling, I think it's good practice to test mechanical parts with a rough rig I would hate to get past the UV's/Textures/Baking, gotten to the rig, and realise that i've made a lot more work for myself because the parts don't work😆 #blender #modelling #rigging

Inspired by dotflare, I added a breathing controller to my Lara rig! This is such a great mechanism for easy idle animations. I set mine up with extrapolated transformation constraints on an MCH layer, and i'm super pleased with how it looks😁 #blender #rigging #rig

Optimised Footroll extend mechanism! Before I had to use transformation constraints and add a counter transformation to flatten the foot as the tip rotated. Now i get to use simple copy rotations and just add drivers to the influence! much quicker to set up😁 #blender #rigging

It feels so good to see the character move after spending so long setting up DEF bones and weight painting! Only the cloth to finish! And then i can start building the control rig 😈 Despite weighting/skinning being widely hated... i actually really love this process 😅

Ammo display using Geonodes! Probably the least optimised Geometry node setup, but it works quite nicely! All set up ready to be implemented directly into the rigUI #blender #geonodes #3d

Shoulder turret is complete ✅ Utilises a B-Bone + Armature constraint mechanism for the ammo chain, which gives really nice motion from one or two controllers. Super easy to space switch too! Now it's time for the big man himself to come alive...

Jumpkit rigged! This was quite fun, even though it's quite a simple setup. Still really pleased with my model and textures😍 Although... now I have to tackle the hips and legs. #rigging #blender #3d

Don't be afraid to start over!😅 I wasn't happy with my arm correctives, so I completely reworked them... It definitely looks and feels more natural now compared to how it was before. I will probably see what I can do to improve the thigh corrective next #blender #rigging #rig

Thigh deforms complete🤤 Also set up the leg IK and FK! Progress is being made toward FINALLY completing the rig XD This style of footroll will always be one of my favourites to set up and test. Very satisfying... #blender #3d #rigging

Much happier with these updated thigh correctives! A big improvement from my original setup, but still isn't perfect when pushed to an extreme. The thigh squish is handled by shape keys, and the calf+hamstring are b-bones with transformation constraints😄 #blender #rigging #rig

After studying some references and posts from other rigging artists, i've ended up with this clean DEF setup for the torso/shoulders. With this rig, I'm challenging myself to take my DEF layer to the next level. So far so good!😄 #blender #rigging #rig

Spent the whole day working on the thigh deforms... It's not 100%, but it's definitely an improvement from my old setups!😄 I've got the twist/breakdown bones left to do here, and a lot more learning to do in the future. but for now, i'm pretty pleased. #blender #rigging #rig

Added some more automation to my magazine rig 😁 Using drivers i'm able to enable the property, as soon as the magazine gets close to the threshold. It has its limits, but from animating just one bone and a property, i think it's pretty good! #blender #rig #rigging

Working my way through the Assault Rifle rig! I still absolutely love my auto magazine mechanism, and i've got an extra firing MCH idea that i want to try out on this rig. It's a little different to the Pistol rig, but should be fun and useful!😄 #blender #rigging #rig

Zhu Yuan arm and shoulder-plate correctives are in place!😄 Similar mechanism to my Lara Croft project but with some extra optimisations. The shoulder plate was a struggle but I believe I've reached a pleasant point with it after a handful of tries. #blender #rig #rigging

Made an update to the grapple rig! improved controller behaviour, and new flexibility to the "spiral" control! everything works a lot nicer now, and looks even better than before! #blender #rigging

Hologram shader! I thought it would be cool to give this character the ability to clone herself with holograms, holopilot style So i ended up with this cool customisable setup! Never played the game that the character is from so i'm just freestyling features #blender #shader

First look at the grapple rig! I'm so very pleased with how this has turned out. It's got as much control as i could put in, without overwhelming it, and all exportable to game engine!! I'm so excited to keep expanding on this rig. #blender #rigging #rig

I made an upgrade to the standard IK finger rigs! This new setup gives the fingers a more natural curvature when in IK mode, still giving the animator the ability to pivot the ends. Compatible with IK/FK snapping and parent switches! #blender #rigging #rig

Here's what I have made for the finger correction!😁 It might be overkill, and it did take over 3 hours... But i believe that it's the little details like this that make a big difference overall! It's all about keeping that volume preserved :) #blender #rigging #rig
