Major Victory ‼️ Mekelle has fallen Under ENDF. A source on the ground tells me that the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) have taken control of Mekelle, the capital of Tigray. According to the same source, most TPLF leaders and generals fled to Asmara, Eritrea, when ENDF forces were still about five miles from the city.

Pope Leo prays for Ethiopia's Tigray region. In his remarks at the General Audience, the Pope appealed to all parties to cease hostilities, noting that “only honest engagement can lay the foundations for lasting peace.” The situation in Tigray is deteriorating considerably. In recent hours, the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF) have intensified their clashes with the Ethiopian army. Numerous skirmishes have been reported along the Tekeze River in western Tigray, in the Wolkayt area on the border with the Afar region, and in various parts of Amhara.

The situation in northern Ethiopia 🇪🇹 is rapidly worsening, with ENDF mobilizing massive reinforcements to Tigray, while Amhara Fano soldiers are taking over their region. 2 weeks after fighting erupted between federal forces and TPLF/TDF in Tigray, the Ethiopian government is in the process of mobilizing thousands of soldiers in the north. Abiy Ahmed has been preparing for war with Tigray and Eritrea for months, while part of his army is stuck fighting in the vast Amhara region, as you can see on the map (from Thomas van Linge). We recently learned about additional regional implications, with Ethiopia hosting a Rapid Support Forces base, while Sudan is training and hosting TPLF forces in Qadarif state and Somali rebels in Somalia. In northern Ethiopia, a climate of war is settling, with both TPLF, Eritrea and ENDF mobilizing their forces. At the same time, ENDF are leaving large areas of Amhara regions, which are rapidly falling into AFNM control. The Amhara Fano forces do not control any city yet but are threatening the main garrisons in the region, while a war in the north could allow them to walk on Addis Abeba.

Breaking News: Amhara Fano Forces Conduct Mission in Addis Ababa, Targeting Government Security Forces Unverified video footage has emerged depicting a daring mission carried out by Amhara Fano forces within the capital city of Addis Ababa. Reports suggest that the operation was executed without harm to civilians, with the sole objective of targeting government security forces. According to local sources in Addis Ababa, the Fano forces involved in the operation are believed to be affiliated with the larger Amhara Fano forces, which has been engaged in war with the regime of Abiy Ahmed, whom they accuse of perpetrating genocide against the Amhara people. The purported mastermind behind the mission, Major General Nahusenay, reportedly chose to take his own life rather than surrender to government security forces. Surrender is viewed as a dishonorable act in Amhara culture, dating back to ancient times. The Ethiopian regime has been taken aback by the strength and resilience of the Fano forces and has responded by intensifying crackdowns, targeting innocent Amhara civilians in Addis Ababa. Disturbing reports have emerged of ethnic Amharas being transported to concentration camps reminiscent of World War II standards. The international community is urged to remain vigilant and condemn the atrocities committed by the Ethiopian regime. This incident underscores the fragility of the Ethiopian government and highlights the Amhara Fano forces as potential allies in stabilizing the Horn of Africa. However, the targeting of Amhara civilians in the capital city cannot be ignored and must be met with condemnation and accountability. The impact of the security vacuum created by the departure of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) continues to reverberate across Oromia. Two days ago, the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) reportedly killed nearly 100 Oromia militia members in an attack on their training camp in Mulo, located about 55 km from Addis Ababa. The rebels briefly took control of the town with little resistance before eventually withdrawing, allegedly seizing weapons from police stations and militia offices.

Field Marshal Birhanu Jula: "Tigray Can Constitutionally Secede" A Message Interpreted as a Threat by Many Addis Ababa | In a controversial statement that is sparking renewed debate about Ethiopia’s federal structure and the future of Tigray, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, the Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, declared that "if the people of Tigray want to separate from Ethiopia, they can do so through constitutional means." The remark, made during a recent public address, echoes earlier comments by Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abebe during the height of the war in Tigray, who also suggested on national television that secession is a constitutional right. While these statements may appear to affirm the federal constitution's Article 39, which provides nations and nationalities the right to self-determination, many Tigrians see them as veiled threats rather than genuine acknowledgments of legal rights. Critics argue that such comments are not extended with goodwill but used as tools of coercion. "The message is loud and clear," said one observer. "If you dare invoke your constitutional rights, the government will treat you as an enemy. You’re expected to live not as free citizens but according to directives handed down from the center." This rhetoric, combined with the devastating toll of the Tigray war — widely recognized by international observers as involving war crimes, including ethnic cleansing and acts of genocide — has fueled mistrust and disillusionment. While many hoped for a path of justice, accountability, and reconciliation after the war, the official tone remains defiant and, to many, dismissive of the trauma experienced by the Tigrian people. Rather than addressing the underlying grievances in Tigray or meaningfully engaging in peacebuilding, critics say Ethiopian federal authorities have resorted to intimidation and nationalist rhetoric. This, they warn, may further entrench divisions and drive the region toward renewed instability. Calls are growing from both inside and outside Tigray for international mediation, justice for war crimes, and an honest national dialogue about Ethiopia’s future — one rooted in consent, rights, and respect for all peoples, not threats disguised as legal clarity.

ETHIOPIA: The ethically motivated forced displacement and demographic engineering in Oromia and Addis Ababa is a form of ethnic-cleansing and must immediately stop. In a country that currently holds the world record for the most number of internally displaced people (IDP), it's inhumane and counter-productive for the Ethiopian govt to conduct forced eviction and home demolition campaigns. An immediate moratorium on demolishing and forced evictions must be declared! According to local media, survivors and eyewitnesses, thousands of residents and students in the Kolfe neighborhood of Addis Ababa were attacked today by police for protesting the government's demolition of homes and the forced evictions of thousands of families in and around Addis Ababa. Just a few days ago, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) - ኢሰመኮ) condemned the government for these ethnically motivated discriminatory evictions and human rights violations. #Ethiopia: Lieutenant General Alemshet Degife, Military Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (#ENDF) and Chief of the Fire Command, announced plans to reduce the military’s involvement in policing and transfer these responsibilities to regional police forces and local militias. Speaking in a two-part interview with ENDF Media, he emphasized, “It is not sustainable for the national defense force to be deployed in every village, woreda, kebele, and city.” General Alemshet reflected on the challenges posed by prolonged military deployments over the past five to six years, particularly in the Tigray, Oromia, and Amhara regions. He outlined a strategy to withdraw troops to their camps and prioritize training, stating, “We are planning to return the military to its camp and focus on training. In this regard, we believe we will succeed, and our forces will get the necessary rest.” Watch!

The real Addis Ababa, young Ethiopian selling their bodies for 300 birr ($1 and 50 cents). 📍Saris The “Corridor of Development” is being sold as a symbol of modernization and national pride. But many Ethiopians are asking: who actually benefits? Teachers and doctors have taken to the streets over low salaries and rising living costs. If everyday 9–5 workers can’t afford basic needs, how does a mega-project change their reality? With reported financing from the United Arab Emirates and construction led by firms from China, critics also raise concerns about foreign dependence and regional implications especially given tensions involving Sudan. Development should raise living standards not just political optics. #AddisAbeba #Ethiopia #Ethiopian #Tigray
