advanced concrete road construction using a slipform paver in Germany, a technique that allows for continuous, high-speed placement of concrete to reduce construction time

This technique is well established, but hardly anyone seems to know about it or have seen it.🫤😆 The reason is that these machines build durable "concrete" roads, where as roads in Germany and Austria are primary asphalt roads.

There's something ridiculously satisfying about watching that machine work. No endless stopping and starting. Just concrete going in and a perfectly shaped road coming out. The only thing missing is six workers standing around discussing where to put the cones.

I love the audacity of planning and designing such large and complicated machinery, building it, and having it work. I wish we could do our driveway as easily.

Me watching this the way other people watch fireplace videos.

Lived in Germany for 2 years. NEVER saw a pothole.

If they brought this machine to ancient Egypt, the priests would think it's a gift from the gods. The Pharaoh would probably just ask how many pyramids it can build in a day.

The Germans are the best at this for a reason!

Labor unions in the U.S. would never allow it. Meanwhile Route 287 is a nightmare.

the world has gone nuts

That’s ok. Americans can live without this. We don’t need it. Our roads can fall apart. We don’t need high-speed trains either. Who cares Chinese, Japanese, and others have them. We are simple people. We are ok.

This is engineering at its finest! No stopping and starting every few metres, just continuous, precise concrete placement at impressive speed. Imagine how much time and labour this technology can save on major road projects. 🇩🇪

You won't see that happening in America.
