After about 30 mins of small optimizations I have it running fully playable on the deck! :) ~80 Billion Polys, 150 Ray-Traced Lights using MegaLights, Lumen & Substrate all running at 30fps on the SteamDeck. #UE5 #UnrealEngine #GameDev #SteamDeck #MegaLights #RayTracing

Wait, that escenario it looks kinda familiar, isn't that the interior of the ship that appears on "Beyond the Aquila rift" of love death and robots ?. Btw its damn impressive the amount of Polys and still running at 30fps, wow👌

Haha yeh , that first section is heavily inspired by that ep

Tbh, why use all these polys and raytracing. It doesn't showing. This could have been done with much more modest specs than these and would have got looks close to that. But yeah, its really impressive that steam deck can run it in 30fps.

Because it was designed as an offline rendered cinematic scene with the main purpose being to push nanite, Lumen & Substrate

Wow. steamdeck have problems with throttling?

I would probably sacrifice eating caramel for the rest of my life to work with you.

Damn! Caramel is pretty good!

Am I reading it right? 80 billion polygons? 🤯

What kind of optimizations did you do

Reduced lumen quality, lowered texture quality, set a roughness cutoff for lumen reflections mainly not much at all
