The commissioning ceremony of the second Pakistan Navy MILGEM class ship, PNS KHAIBAR, was held at Istanbul Naval Shipyard in Türkiye. The President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest, while Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf was also present. In his address, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan described Pakistan–Türkiye relations as a model of brotherhood and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation in defence production in the future. He appreciated the growing defence partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye, noting that close engagement between Pakistan Navy and Turkish Naval Forces continues to reinforce bilateral defence collaboration and reflects the depth of the enduring partnership between the two countries. The migrants, smuggled in violation of U.S. immigration laws, and the vessel operator were arrested and transferred to Border Patrol for further processing and removal. On the western end of the island, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Ramey Sector, supported by CBP Marine Interdiction Agents, the Puerto Rico Police Department Maritime Unit, Cabo Rojo Municipal Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations, apprehended 15 migrants after a makeshift vessel made landfall. After a thorough search, 27 aliens from countries like Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti were arrested. Today, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) conducted a routine maritime patrol in the vicinity of Bajo De Masinloc to support Filipino fishermen actively engaged in fishing in the area. During this operation, our vessels encountered aggressive actions from several Chinese Coast Guard vessels, specifically CCG 5303, 3302, 3104, 3304, as well as People's Liberation Army Navy vessels with bow numbers 500 and 571. At around 6:30 AM, CCG 3302 fired a water cannon at the BRP Datu Pagbuaya (MMOV 3003), aiming directly at the vessel's navigational antennas while it was located 16 nautical miles south of Bajo de Masinloc. Following this hostile action, CCG 3302 intentionally sideswiped the BRP Datu Pagbuaya on its starboard side. Shortly thereafter, at 6:55 AM, CCG 3302 launched a second water cannon attack on the same vessel. Furthermore, the PCG vessels, including the BRP Teresa Magbanua, faced blocking, shadowing, and dangerous maneuvers from PLA Navy vessel 500 and CCG 503. Additionally, BRP Cabra was subjected to reckless maneuvers by CCG 3104 at a distance of 300 yards. The PCG and BFAR reaffirm their commitment to protecting the rights and safety of our fishermen within our maritime jurisdiction. We will continue to be vigilant in safeguarding our national interests in the West Philippine Sea.

However, nothing compares to the strides made by the Indonesian Navy. The country acquired 8 modern frigates and 2 battery-powered electric submarines - with Tot- in a Naval Group configuration that allows for submergence periods of up to 80 days. Indonesia, alongside Japan and Germany, now becomes one of the sole operators of this new generation of submarines. To build the ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities of this fleet and support army operations, nearly 100 reconnaissance and combat drones were purchased, with a highlight on 60 Bayraktar units. This is joined by the acquisition of Turkish ballistic missiles with technology transfer, as well as at least 2 to 3 models of Turkish and Chinese anti-ship missiles. The Combined Maritime Task Force (CMTF) for the Gulf of Guinea was launched on June 1, 2026, as Africa's first regional, joint rapid-reaction naval force. Three months later, only Nigeria, Africa's largest Navy, has provided ships, helicopters surveilance planes and temporary offices in Lagos. Six founding countries, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone are establishing a joint naval force to combat piracy, illegal fishing, and other maritime crimes across a vast area encompassing 26 countries and more than 6,000 kilometres of coastline, stretching from Senegal to Angola. The EU has pledged to deepen its engagement with the newly established Combined Maritime Task Force for the Gulf of Guinea (CMTF-GoG). With the other contributing member states yet to deploy a single vessel, it looks like it's going to be an all Nigeria affair going forward.

PRESS STATEMENT PRIVATE SECURITY CONTRACTORS INTERCEPT 800,000 LITRE CAPACITY VESSEL WITH STOLEN CRUDE OIL Following the receipt of credible intelligence, a Private Security Contractor engaged by NNPC Ltd., Messrs. Tantita Security Services, intercepted a suspicious Vessel with a Cargo of Crude oil on board on July 7, 2023. The Vessel, MT TURA II (IMO number: 6620462), owned by a Nigerian Registered Company, HOLAB MARITIME SERVICES LIMITED with Registration Number RC813311, was heading to Cameroun with the Cargo on board when it was apprehended at an offshore location (Latitude: 5.8197194477543235°, Longitude: 4.789002723991871°), with the Captain and Crew members on board. Preliminary investigations revealed that the crude oil cargo onboard was illegally sourced from a well jacket offshore Ondo State, Nigeria. There was no valid documentation for the Vessel or the Crude Oil Cargo onboard at the time of the arrest. Further investigation into the activities of the vessel at the NNPC Ltd. Command and Control Centre also revealed that the Vessel has been operating in stealth mode for the last twelve (12) years. The last reported location of the Vessel was Tin Can Port in July 2011. Details of this arrest and the outcomes of the investigations were escalated to the appropriate Government authorities, upon which it was concluded to destroy the Vessel to serve as a strong warning and deterrent to all those participating in such illegal activities to cease and desist. Destroying vessels involved in transporting stolen crude oil is of paramount importance as a strong deterrent. The illegal trade of stolen crude oil not only inflicts significant economic losses on Nigeria and legitimate stakeholders in the oil industry, but also perpetuates a cycle of corruption, environmental devastation, and social instability. My contacts in the Mexican Navy sent this to me. It’s an excellent example of whats really happening on the ground (or the sea) in the deadly counter-cartel fight. With our assistance, Mexico’s Navy seized a narco semi-submersible more than 250 nautical miles off the Pacific coast- loaded with 179 packages of suspected cocaine, totaling several tons. This is the third so-called “low profile vessel” the Mexican Navy has recently captured. They’re purpose-built smuggling platforms designed to evade radar and move massive quantities of drugs north. The operation involved an offshore patrol vessel, fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and interceptor boats- with intelligence coordination alongside U.S. Northern Command and Joint Interagency Task Force South. Three crew members detained. Cargo confiscated. Another hit to the cartel logistics and financing network. Interdiction is important, but it’s one piece of the puzzle. We have to go to war with the cartels on all fronts, and knock on the doors of their mega mansions with a bunch of guys with guns and bad attitudes. Recently the Mexican Senate approved the deployment of a SEAL platoon to train with Mexican Special Forces. Things are moving in the right direction.
