Increased Industrial Carbon Taxes and Carbon Capture Requirements add extra costs to producers. So instead of the money going to the province in terms of royalties, we are sending the money to the feds in terms of carbon taxes. Producers are not going to produce for no profit.

She doesn't want private investors to spend their money. She wants taxpayers to pay for another pipeline.

On top of the corporate tax subsidy of 5% on average she will offer more subsidies to Oil & Gas while Albertan’s keep getting asked everytime we turn around to subsidize the Stollery! How about you scrap the subsidies and build a f’n kids hospital! How about a referendum on this!

It’s going to cost O&G companies $20/bbl for tolls in any new pipeline to the West coast if the projections are 2x the costs of TMX And most of these new oil projects will be add-ons to existing operations - not greenfield These governments are just guessing at this point

This is straight socialist economy. Jack up carbon taxes, force high capital costs with carbon equipment, then subsidize producers to pay for it by reducing Albertans’ royalty value. Net/net it’s a tax transfer to Ottawa and a subsidy to produce oil that will be driven into a rising supply given Venezuela is going to ramping up at the same time. It’s a disaster waiting to happen. Smith’s disastrous volume strategy must stop.

It isnt enough because the government via the carbon tax has implicitly increased their fiscal take so this helps offset it. If you don’t have a carbon tax you don’t need this.
