Alberta Premier Danielle Smith will be at this week's Canada Investment Summit. Does the threat of Alberta separation make the province an unstable place to invest? Smith says "I don't think so" and insists the Oct. 19 referendum is about "direct democracy." #cdnpoli

Follow up question should have been “How about the arbitrary cancellation of $33 billion in clean energy projects?” Alberta is not a stable location for long term investment unless you want to burn something.

@sqirlgirly Fake it till you make it Marlaina.

@validmavericity Well, Smith is a lying liar who lies, so there’s that. I don’t think she has told the truth her entire career.

Think about how angry Alberta is that Dani/UCP ran off the Renewables industry… tens of billions in investments & tens of thousands of jobs… (versus an oil & gas industry that is slashing its workforce)… Dani Smith did that to protect US oil & gas operating in Alberta. US O&G leaving 100s of billions in environmental damages, abandoned wells, & tailings for the public to cleanup. @Alberta_UCP @albertaNDP @liberal_party

Half a trillion $ in lost investment in Alberta? I’d like to see some proof of that! O&G companies know they’ll never recover their investment; don’t put this back on the feds @ABDanielleSmith

Direct democracy? Give me a break. Racist questions designed by her and asked by no one else FFS. She is delusional.

Canada used to be a place where business grew organically unimpeded by nonsensical regulations and taxes Now we’re always looking for our sketchy sugar daddy to give us cash cause we piss it away on some useless politicians pet project Canada is a basket case

Alberta encourages resource development unlike BC Premier Smith doesn't adopt DRIPA legislation giving Co-govt powers to Indian Bands. BC NDP Party Does. Uncertainty over BC private property rights & all public lands? Alberta honors its citizens private property rights. BC , No

Alberta charges 8% corporate tax and Canada takes 15 for a total of 23%, if an independent Alberta Charged 15% it'd keep nearly double and the closest provinces are QC and ON with 26.5%. Canada should be terrified and they probably are, that explains the absurd fear mongering while ignoring the actual reality.

Direct democracy is when she lowers the threshold and extends the time on a disastrous referendum thatd otherwise have failed.

How is it direct democracy if they phrased and selected the questions.

"I don't think so" doesn't show a lot of confidence from the ideological magpie.

@BSwirlsi Why did they invite that idiot

I don’t think so??? oh my God she’s dense or the best liar ever. Upon reflection, I think she’s both.

I wonder if the premiers are going to get any “say” in Canada potentially becoming an Associate Member of the EU.

Investments are on hold from my own company until this fake “referendum” is over.

She needs to be over thrown! RESIGN

same old left wing nuts on AGAIN! geeesss and calling Trump the orange man is so unprofessional.

She delusional

The premise of Vassy's line of questioning is completely false. An independent Alberta would be a MORE stable environment for investment than we are as a province of Canada. Investors won't have to worry about another easterner like Trudeau coming along in 5 or 10 years.

She is full of 💩 she never campaigned on anything she’s done, she is trumskies little minion

Not just thumb on scale at the start but a heavy hand of the state power tilting the scale by deceitful and dog whistle questions is anything but direct democracy.

She is so disingenuous

The only path to prosperity is to secure Alberta's independence!

She lost business because she shut down renewable energy projects. Does she hear herself???

@ABDanielleSmith is either daft or so corrupt she can’t even understand facts

Separation is the only way now that canada is giving up all its powers to brussels

🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Trump in Pumps theory!

Vassy follows what is now known as the “Trusted News Initiative “ Suspiciously similar to what Beijing would have done with HongKong news Picking quarrels and causing disturbances will get you censored & suppressed

I love that this summit is timed right before Smith's hairbrained referendum. lmao

yes!!

I would say the threat of separation is obviously not creating instability to great for investment consideration. Currently, even with Canada's heavy taxes and regulatory system, there is investment. Investment will flood into the province if they are able to gain independence.
