@ABDanielleSmith Alberta will boom if they become separate, they will unlock an energy powerhouse, lower taxes, more money in their citizens hands. I also bet they will have a deal with the US in place with zero tariffs and military protection.

@ABDanielleSmith Separation from Ottawa is common sense. How many times have we asked for a fair deal=no equalization, Feds to butt out of provincial resources only to be hamstrung? The definition of “insanity” again? It worked for Quebec. Time for working prairie citizens to be able to work!

But she doesn’t agree with the court decision regarding the petition and will be appealing it. “Smith says she wants to add an additional question to the upcoming Alberta referendum on constitutional matters and changes to the immigration system. She says the question will not 'directly trigger separation' but would ask about holding a binding referendum on the matter.”

It appears that Thomas Lukaszuk is now regretting his formation of the question in HIS citizen led petition. Apparently he is now back peddling and only wants it to go to legislation. Not a vote. Regardless, it LOOKS like, no matter what, the question of “should Alberta remain in Canada” will be on the ballot in the referendum. Thanks Tommy! 😁

If Smith fights as hard for the referendum as she has against carbon taxes and for building pipelines, the referendum vote will never happen. Smith does warn the court ruling could dramatically change how Alberta is governed.
