COACHES: When I do faceoff stats - I don't do it for the centers. I do it for lines. Because faceoffs are often won or lost by the players NOT taking the draw. Coaches refer to faceoffs like the "line of scrimmage" in football. It's the trenches that take second and third efforts to gain possession. A typical NHL game will have between 50-60 faceoffs per game. In a sport that so values puck possession, it's 50-60 times to gain possession. In last night's game, there were two faceoffs "won" by the center, but the opponent with their effort at the line of scrimmage WON possession and it led to a goal. Faceoff intensity doesn't show up on the scoresheet but is such a big part of winning hockey. Great clips to show your teams!!

A father-son duo started a CD-Rom game in 2000 making Roman military strategy games. In 2013, they created Command: Modern Operation, a wargame simulator with battles from WWII to present day. The maps, databases and war scenarios were so good that US Air Force, the Pentagon and Britain’s strategic command reached out. Per WSJ, Gamemaker Slitherine Software has since created a special version of Command that the is blocked off from consumer market and can handle classified data. Wargaming goes back to the Prussian Army in the 1800s. Prior to Command, the government would use tabletop maps and dice games (very souped up versions of Risk and Stratego). The arrangement with Command work because Slitherine gets so much feedback from its 1m+ consumer users and improves the product faster than an internal wargaming tool can. *** Full read here: Game trailer:
