Amazon is closing ALL warehouses in Quebec after unionizing took place at 1 warehouse. Instead of working with first successful union of Amazon in North America, they chose to layoff all 1,950 workers. A clear threat to all workers that if they unionize—they will be fired. The warehouse workers in Quebec became the first Amazon workers in North America to successfully unionize when they were certified in 2024. Theories are emerging that the calls to slow down AI development is because these companies are out of money. They can't just come out & admit that or the market goes belly up. This would be a path to a government bailout of sorts. All under the guise of safety & regulation.
