Jaslow: I really empathize with those who have to serve under poor leadership right now—whether that’s the commander-in-chief or the secretary of defense. There seems to be a lot of theater and posturing that might make them feel the power of the positions they’re in, but it’s coming at the expense of real people who are risking their lives. And you also have family members here at home who are concerned about those service members and want them to be serving under steady leadership—who want clarity on the mission and why they are being asked to sacrifice so much. And I don’t know that we’re getting that right now.

History will not forgive those who treat war as a political prop. I represent a military district. Members of my family serve. Our sons and daughters are the ones who answer the call on orders from the Commander in Chief. That is the solemn obligation our military carries every single day. We should eliminate Iran’s nuclear threat. We should destroy the terrorists. And we should do so with the least possible risk to American lives.

On this Memorial Day we remember those who have given their lives in the service of this nation, and we hold in our hearts the families and loved ones they left behind. For those of us who wore the uniform in combat, this is a day where we remember our friends and comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember them as they were: sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers. And we rededicate ourselves to living good lives, not to waste the opportunity to live on they gave us with their sacrifice. The willingness of some young Americans to sign the dotted line and risk their futures for the good of the nation is a resource we must jealously guard. It cannot be abused and squandered by those in power for their own benefit. The best way to honor the dead is to make sure future generations are not sacrificed for no reason. Semper Fidelis.

I've spoken to more than one dozen families of service members on board the USS Abraham Lincoln and other aircraft carriers in the Middle East. I've seen prison inmates receiving better meals than some of the food served on these ships. All the while, the President is gaslighting families. Take some accountability for what's going on with your military, your ships, and your war. We heard Hegseth and the president essentially saying that families are lying and service members are lying, even though the proof is right here on my phone. It's infuriating that they're not taking accountability and not having any sort of sympathy for our service members that they they claim that they support when it's politically, you know, sound for them—until our troops need support. And now suddenly everyone's lying. I so badly would love to plaster my face and blow the whistle so loud on social media with my name and be like, this is real. But unfortunately, I have to protect my husband's career
