Polyunsaturated fats happen to be very general and effective blockers of thyroid function. A whole series of papers was published in the French Annals of Endocrinology showing that the secretion of the thyroid gland is inhibited by polyunsaturated fats. There are no FDA-approved BLAs for the ADT products currently on the market. As described in more detail below, FDA intends to take action against marketed unapproved ADT products. To provide notice to manufacturers, importers, and distributors, we are issuing this letter. This notice also serves to promote compliance with FDA's premarket approval requirements.
