I like it, but I’d start out less staggered with younger HS players who tend to be naturally awkward. They’re just not going to get that foot down as smoothly as those kids.

I learned having my left toe elevated when fielding square to the ball is more effective. Your front-foot timing method may work on turf, but having 1 foot forward leads you with little to no room for adjustment for a bad hop. Being in that athletic stance is crucial, Coach
