Air pollution in North India is a national emergency—a public health crisis that is stealing our children’s future and suffocating the elderly, and an environmental and economic disaster that is ruining countless lives. The poorest among us suffer the most, unable to escape the toxic air that surrounds them. Families are gasping for clean air, children are falling sick, and millions of lives are being cut short. Tourism is declining and our global reputation is crumbling. The cloud of pollution covers hundreds of kilometres. Cleaning it up will need major changes and decisive action - from governments, companies, experts and citizens. We need a collective national response, not political blame games. As Parliament meets in a few days, MPs will all be reminded of the crisis by our irritated eyes and sore throats. It is our responsibility to come together and discuss how India can end this crisis once and for all.

Children across the country are being disproportionately affected by ozone, particulate matter, air pollution, and other sources—and things are only going to get worse. The Environmental Protection Agency under Trump is no longer fulfilling its basic duties to protect our air and water quality. Smokestacks can now continue to pollute without accountability, and vehicle emissions are no longer being properly regulated. What does that mean for children? Over half of children across the country are living in zip codes with poor air quality—not just during wildfire season, but year-round. That’s bad for developing lungs, which are uniquely vulnerable to pollution. This is not a good trend line. It could be devastating for an entire generation. And it’s not just children. Nearly 44% of Americans—about 150 million people—are impacted by at least one source of air pollution. And it’s only going to get worse.

The cold is British. They just never told you. ❄️🇬🇧 Every air conditioner, every fridge, every freezer on earth, the cold inside all of it was first made by a Scotsman. In 1756. ❄️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 His name was William Cullen, a doctor in Edinburgh. In a warm room, with no ice and no winter, he drew the air from a glass of ether until it boiled cold and drank the heat from the water around it, until the water froze. No one had ever done it before. Then he wrote it down and walked away. No machine, no patent, no fortune. Just the proof, on a bench. It sat there the better part of a century. A British bench built the first machine that worked, and a Scot carried it across the world to Australia, where it froze meat and cooled beer. But cold was only half the story. ❄️📖 To master the air itself took another Scot. When the Houses of Parliament burned down in 1834, David Boswell Reid made the new building breathe, its gothic spires its lungs. At St George's Hall in Liverpool in 1851 he built what is often called the first air-conditioned building on earth. It should have made him. He died forgotten in America instead. 40 years on, Willis Carrier built the machine and earned his name as the father of modern air conditioning. He earned every bit of it. But he did not make the cold. The cold was British. America took that inheritance and cooled the world with it, and that is no theft. That is what an inheritance is for. 9/10 founders would have built this AI Robo Chef in China. Yatin Varachhia spent 5 years building it in India. It started with a simple problem. While living abroad, he missed the Gujarati food he grew up eating. That led to Let's Nosh. A machine that can cook 600+ Indian recipes at the push of a button. The product itself is genuinely impressive. But what stands out even more is the commitment behind it. Made-in-India design. Made-in-India tooling. Made-in-India moulds. Even the main PCB is made in India. The easy path would have been to manufacture elsewhere. The harder path was to build the ecosystem here. Yatin chose the harder path. 9/10 founders would have built this AI Robo Chef in China. Yatin Varachhia spent 5 years building it in India. It started with a simple problem. While living abroad, he missed the Gujarati food he grew up eating. That led to Let's Nosh. A machine that can cook 600+ Indian recipes at the push of a button. The product itself is genuinely impressive. But what stands out even more is the commitment behind it. Made-in-India design. Made-in-India tooling. Made-in-India moulds. Even the main PCB is made in India. The easy path would have been to manufacture elsewhere. The harder path was to build the ecosystem here. Yatin chose the harder path. Today, NOSH is selling in the US and gaining traction in Bharat. Yesterday, it was a pleasure hosting Yatin at Topsail. We had some great conversations around product development and manufacturing, and we're excited about the possibility of building more together in the future. David Sacks: Everything Kathy Hochul Said About Datacenters Was a False Accusation David Sacks: “These data centers become the scapegoat for all of the angst that people have about AI. Everything she's saying there is a false accusation on datacenters. So let's just go one by one.” POWER: So she's saying that they eat up all of the power. Well, yeah, if you connect to the grid without producing more power and you force datacenters to compete with residential ratepayers, then yeah, you could drive up utility prices. However, if you do what Chamath said and let them build behind the meter, then they bring their own power. And that's what the president has advocated for since the beginning of his administration, is let the AI companies become power companies. So that is the way to solve the energy problem or the utility problem. LAND: Then, she's talking about eating up land. The reality is these datacenters are a model of land use efficiency. We have a ton of land in this country, obviously. NOISE POLLUTION: The supposed noise pollution, that's largely made up. That can be dealt with. You obviously don't want to put these things right next to a residential area, but create a little bit of distance, and it's fine. WATER CONSUMPTION: The whole water consumption thing is largely a hoax. Modern datacenters recirculate the water. AIR POLLUTION: One final thing just on the point that Hochul is making. She said it created a lot of pollution. Natural gas, which is how most of these data centers are powered, is one of the most clean burning sources of power that we have. “When you compare economic impact to all these different things, datacenters are honestly one of the best things we could be building as a nation.”
