But contractors pay netas their cut money & encroachers who cause traffic jams are vote banks of netas. We are told ethanol is “good for the environment” but to produce 1 litre of ethanol it takes 2500-3500 litres of water at sugar mills or above 10,000 litres per litre at rice mills! This when the country is facing water shortage. How is this good for anyone except the netas? Most ethanol distilleries are owned by netas, for example Nitin Gadkari ji’s son! And please tell me how is Gadkari ji announcing ethanol policy when he is neither the Petroleum Minister, nor Agriculture Minister, nor Industry Minister? We the people pay full price for our vehicles + road tax + insurance + tolls + GST on spares… and in return we get pathetic roads, terrible infrastructure & now forced ethanol-blended fuel that kills mileage & damages engines. Journalist: My car's mileage was 10 to 11 in city. After E20 petrol, the mileage has been reduced to 7. Nitin Gadkari: You can't calculate avg of your car by yourself. Only a machine can check your avg and only then I will believe that mileage of your car has reduced. I do understand that there are lots of misinformation and fake videos regarding E20 petrol. But Nitin Gadkari's stance that E20 Petrol is not affecting cars is absolutely laughable. Even if I assume that E20 Petrol is not harming E20 compliant cars but what about cars which are only E10 compliant. Nitin Gadkari has no idea about how much people are turning against him. The decision to rush E20 Petrol and impose it on everyone within such a short time is not looking good now.

I respect the brave journalist Manish Kasyap Son Of Bihar ji but before putting direct allegations can he prove what he is actually saying about a central minister Nitin Gadkari ji. I would sincerely request the concerned national authorities and the union minister himself to come up and clarify all things about the ethanol blended fuel and clear the confusion among the common man regarding the same. Bihar-based journalist Manish Kashyap ji has claimed that his new Toyota Innova HyCross (E20-compatible) developed a major fault after covering just around 12,000 km. He alleged that despite the vehicle being relatively new, Toyota refused to provide warranty support. Expressing his frustration, Kashyap also strongly criticized Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and the government’s ethanol-blended fuel policy. In a video, he alleged, “Nitin Gadkari has ruined the entire country just to benefit his son,” and further claimed, “He has damaged vehicles across the country because of his policies.” His remarks have sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many users debating the reliability of E20-compatible vehicles, the effectiveness of the ethanol fuel policy, and the responsibility of automobile manufacturers. I just received a call from Delhi Police and they have said not to go tomorrow to the residence of Hon'ble Transport & Highway minster shri Nitin Gadkari ji! But Nitin sir, you gave us a challenge to to get people affected whose vehicles are affected by E20Fuel! Sir you please give us an appointment!! Secondly sir: yesterday you said your son's Ethanol business is just 0.07%, this sir is roughly about ₹50-₹100 crores a year! How many INDIANS earn that kind of money? I am delighted to share that I, along with Hardeep Singh Puri, had the opportunity to launch the 100% ethanol-compatible version of the WagonR—Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling car. Regarding motorcycles, Hero MotoCorp—which accounts for three out of every five motorcycles sold—has launched two flex-fuel models capable of running on 100% ethanol. Following this, companies like Toyota, Suzuki, MG, and Hyundai will launch 100% ethanol-compatible vehicles within the next month and a half. Thus, ethanol will serve as a viable alternative to petrol. People used to laugh when I spoke of this dream, and some friends even criticised it...Soon, we will launch a pilot project in Nagpur featuring a hydrogen pump and two hydrogen-powered buses. The public will be able to ride these hydrogen buses, which will be powered by green hydrogen extracted from water using an electrolyser. That day is now near.”

The automobile manufacturers, as well as the people who service these vehicles, all say there is no difficulty. Why this sudden interest? We have been using E15 (blend of 15% ethanol and 80% petrol) for the last three and a half years. We have been on E20 (blend of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol) since April of last year. From April 2025 to April 2026, it has already been one year, and we are now another five months beyond that. If someone is suggesting E25 (blend of 25% ethanol and 80% petrol), we have made it clear that we are conducting tests. Those tests will take time. Once the reports are available, we will evaluate them. Then we will discuss the findings with the stakeholders and the automobile manufacturers. After all, I neither manufacture the cars nor the fuel. The car manufacturers are comfortable with E20. Each one of them has made a statement to that effect. Consumers also appreciate the product. We have only begun the rollout of E85 (blend of 85% ethanol and 15% petrol), and that rollout will take some time because new petrol pumps and related infrastructure need to be put in place..."
