The time has come for us to fully embrace our true identity, stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters across the Niger, and reclaim the dignity that was once distorted by war and survival. This is not about politics or personal ambition. It is about justice, fairness, and correcting historical imbalances. My dream remains clear — the creation of Anioma State, with Asaba as its capital, where an Ndokwa son or daughter can one day become governor. We cannot shy away from who we are. Just as a Chinese man remains Chinese anywhere in the world, so must Anioma proudly rise its identity. I must commend the Igbo Unification Movement and Ndi na Asu Bia for their courage and consistency in championing this cause. Their work is helping our people reconnect with history and identity.

“If Anioma State is created, Asaba will be the capital, and Warri will become the capital of Delta State,” — Godswill Akpabio said at the South-South APC Congress held in Asaba. Me: Honestly, I don’t agree with making Warri the capital of Delta State. That’s not the direction we want. We’d rather separate entirely — align with Ondo State or move toward the creation of a Coastal State instead. Thank you, sir.

Yesterday at Ikot-Ekpene, the voice of Anioma echoed clearly. As the bill for the creation of Anioma State was presented at the constitutional review public hearing, It came with a powerful reminder of why this cause matters so deeply. Even though I wasn’t surprised by the overwhelming turnout from my people, I was deeply moved. From traditional rulers to youth leaders, professionals to community elders, Anioma showed up, not just in numbers, but with unity, clarity, and conviction. They gave this mandate, and I’m honoured they continue to stand firmly by me as I pursue it. This is a call rooted in history, legitimacy, and justice. We’ve crossed every hurdle required of us. From documentation to consensus. What remains is the decision of this Senate and the will of the Nigerian people to do what is right. Special thanks to our revered royal fathers who journeyed long distances to lend their presence and voices. Your support gives weight to this mission. This is a moment of truth. A moment for justice. A moment for Anioma.

Attending the Abuja Igbo Fest was a remarkable experience. I was struck by the sheer scale of participation and the strength of cultural identity on full display. I had not imagined that such a deeply rooted and unifying event existed here in the capital, bringing together the Igbo community in such an intentional and inspiring way. I was truly blown away by the energy, the unity, and the overwhelming show of support for the creation of Anioma State. As their banner boldly reads: “The call for Anioma State is not just a political demand, it is a cultural affirmation.” Indeed, IGBO BU OFU! Thank you for the honour of making me your Patron. I’m proud to stand with you, now and always.

I hosted the Anioma community in Abuja, including both active and retired public and civil servants, for an interactive session on constituency issues on Saturday, June 15, 2024. While I frequently visit home to engage with most of my constituents, I recognized the need to connect with those residing in Abuja and its environs. The event aimed to help them understand my duties and the services I owe them as their senator, make them aware that I am very much reachable, and also seek input from them to better address their needs and concerns. We discussed and shared ideas on various constituency matters, particularly the creation of Anioma state. The overwhelming affirmative voice vote for Anioma state demonstrated its importance to every son and daughter of Anioma descent. This is a cause to which I am fully committed.

Well said David Dimbleby (on the UK government’s decision to send King Charles on a State visit to the USA): 'We are dealing with a president who is a narcissist and a bully and he has been bullying Britain. He has been rude about our armed forces, about our role in Afghanistan. The King is the head of the Armed Forces and I think a rebuke of some kind is necessary. A state banquet? While he's bombing the hell out of Iran and people are dying all over the Middle East...? I don't see that the full panoply of a state banquet and a speech at Congress is appropriate, it is a misuse of the King, who has to do what he is told by the Government. It is giving Trump more than he deserves.”
