China has achieved a landmark breakthrough in advanced manufacturing with the launch of its largest single-line 48K large-tow carbon fiber facility in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. This is not the same as China’s T1200 ultra-high-strength carbon fiber breakthrough. T1200 is the high-end blade: extreme strength, aerospace-grade, strategic materials. 48K large-tow carbon fiber is the industrial skeleton: large-scale, lower-cost, mass application for wind power, EV lightweighting, rail, marine engineering, and advanced manufacturing. One breaks the ceiling. The other builds the floor. That is how an industrial system becomes impossible to contain.

Building Aircraft Structures Instead of Assembling Them This video shows Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) manufacturing the lower half of a thermoplastic composite aircraft fuselage. Traditional aircraft fuselages are built by assembling hundreds of individual parts with thousands of mechanical fasteners. Composite manufacturing is gradually changing that approach by producing larger integrated structures with fewer joints. Thermoplastic composites can be reheated and welded after manufacturing, allowing large fuselage sections to be joined without relying entirely on rivets or adhesive bonding. The objective is not simply to replace aluminium. It is to reduce assembly time, simplify manufacturing, and support higher production rates while maintaining structural performance. The demonstrator shown here measures approximately 8 metres long and was built to evaluate automated manufacturing, welding, inspection, and assembly of large thermoplastic composite aircraft structures. The demonstrator was developed under the Airbus-led Multifunctional Fuselage Demonstrator (MFFD) programme by a European aerospace consortium.

We are on good terms with SpaceX - Anduril is a customer of Velo. We are already working with many programs together and they are increasing their parts. We are also combining our forces to bid for other programs - We are in talks with SpaceX for them to buy more machines. Can't disclose more details but most likely they will. - We are already seeing the massive increase in drone demand in our allocation with Anduril and SpaceX together. Velo3D is the choice for a lot of these programs due to the US manufacturing large metal size.
