Hard to believe that Grand Prix 2 will turn 30 years old this year. What Geoff Crammond created back then feels nothing short of a masterpiece. His earlier works were Revs, The Sentinel, and Stunt Car Racer, so from his track record you could see “genius” written all over him. With Grand Prix 2 he took it to the next level. Never before had a racing game featured such realistic physics. The gear system, brakes, suspension, front and rear wings - everything could be adjusted and fine-tuned, including telemetry tools to analyse and refine changes. None of this existed in any racing game before, not even close. Crammond invested three years in what was essentially a solo project, with little outside help. When it was published in 1996, it flew off the shelves, with sales ultimately reaching around 1 million and ratings in the high 90% range across the board. Imagine the patience and self-belief required to lock yourself away for three years without knowing if the game would be a hit or just another forgotten, below-average title. Does anyone know this game? I never played it in the arcade, but I had a lot of fun playing it on a PC DOS computer. All you had to do was beat your rival, but they would chase you so closely that the tension was incredible. When you win a race, you can use the prize money to upgrade your car, and with the variety of tracks, it never gets boring. I also have great memories of sitting with my friends, three of us sharing one keyboard and playing together. 😆

#5 You can't steal any cars and you can only enter from the left side of the car There's only one animation to enter the car and that's from the left side, during some in-game missions you aren't even allowed to get out of the car and explore the open world like this one here, I tried getting out of the car to walk on foot but the game didn't allow me to. This is because the Open World of MindsEye is extremely restricted, the Game doesn't want you do explore so it either forces you to move from point A to point B with a timer and most of the times it asks you to enter a car and you can't get out of it once you're inside the vehicle.

Pretty incredible You have to try the new '/goal' feature in Codex It worked for over an hour and built me an entire complex extraction shooter video game You give it a goal, then it works endlessly until the goal is complete. It's like a Ralph loop. Can run for days If you enable the image gen skill before you run the goal, it will even generate ALL the assets for your game autonomously. I didn't manually create ANY of the assets you see in the video Recommendations: enable the image gen skill, put on skip all permissions, and give the prompt as much detail as you can. It will accomplish ALL of it This has to be the sickest way to build games/ long running app tasks ever

If you had a Nintendo 64, you played this epic classic. Super Mario 64 turns 30 this year. It was the first Mario game in a 3D world, and remains the most successful game ever for the Nintendo 64 with over 11 million (!) copies sold. Being a huge Super Mario fan from the NES era, seeing Mario come to live in a 3D world was incredible. Once again, the goal is to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser, a battle for the ages. What an adventurous season. 2012 was full of twists and turns. Looking back on this video, I was way too nice to @clintbowyer. But, if you can recall, the rear end was falling out of the car and I had to nurse the car to a 3rd place finish.

Imagine leaving the dealer after picking up your new car, your are amazed and distracted at the features of the car and how comfortable it is. All of a sudden you feel a spine jarring impact and hear multiple parts of the car crunching, the wheel is now wobbling and making noises. Before you know it, you realize you had just hit a massive pothole. Is it a sign that this car wasn’t meant for you or is it time to take it to the city and demand they repair it?

You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little “too much” or “strange” in my life and career. Civilization II (Microprose, 1996) turns 30 this year. When I first saw and played Civilization in 1991, I thought I'd never see a better strategy game. Then, Civilization II was published and everything went up a gear. Better graphics, better diplomacy, better units (good bye Phalanx vs Battleship PTSD from the prequel), more complex gameplay - just exactly what you wished. Keeping the basic principles but making everything better. How is this 30 years ago, when it feels like yesterday? What a game! MicroProse was such a powerhouse back in the day!
