Rule of thumb for any vacation rental. Always take pictures or video when you arrive and right before you check out. Make sure they are time stamped. Best way to CYA.

I feel like @Airbnb could solve a huge chunk of problems by simply updating their TOS to say "Check-out Instructions cannot include any house-keeping duties other than placing linens in a basket/tub. Cleaning properties is the responsibility of the hosts, not the guests."

I refuse to stay in AirBnB’s anymore. You pay a huge cleaning fee and they expect you to clean for them. It’s nuts. I will only stay in hotels or direct book condos now.

My suggestion: If you use AirBnBs, take photos when you first arrive, and take photos right before you leave using the Timestamp App. It stamps the time, date, and location on the photo. Provide YOUR OWN proof of how the place looked before & after.😉

Yeah, I will never do air bnb. I’ll just get a hotel and get breakfast included and won’t be treated like shit.

We used to use Air BnB a lot, we don't any more because of these ridiculous instructions. The last @Airbnb @AirbnbHelp we stayed at wanted us to take the trash to a dumpster 2 miles in the opposite direction of the highway we needed to be on. We were expected to carry bags of trash in a RENTAL CAR to a city dumpster. That was the last straw. Never stayed at another one since.

A four star rating is NOT cool. You have to realize that anything under 5 stars is basically a fail. Just for a few ANTS?? She habitually leaves low ratings for stupid things. That smacks of entitlement. Somebody like that will mess up stuff and never take accountability.

I had a host do something similar. I found her ass on facebook and messaged her there. I also emailed her! She changed her tune real quick 🤣

She is lying. If you are cleaning a kitchen, why wouldn’t you clean the counters?? COMMON SENSE in most humans is not here in this video. Admitting to leave the counters, dirty is admitting that she did not clean according to the way you would clean the house before you leave it

Been using AirBnB since its inception and always have anxiety around the rating system. The fact we have to clean and also pay for cleaning is just absolute nonsense, though I do it every time. Then add that AirBnB started allowing for charging for children, even though we are paying for the whole house — and always leave the place the way we receive it — it really is time for an alternative.

I agree with this. Owners need to understand what basic, and I mean basic, picking up when you leave means. I may have a long drive ahead of me and don’t have time to do an hour or 2 of cleaning. It’s one thing if you make a big mess. It’s quite another if you’re just doing routine things

Why do these people insist on doing makeup while they’re talking? No one wants to see you unless it’s a tutorial about makeup and you’re not some slob that leaves the counters messy

Apparently the world really needed to see her applying her makeup in her car. I’m sorry but if you’re sitting there recording a video while sitting in your car applying your makeup it automatically invalidates anything that comes out of her mouth. …and the SMACKING.. 😖 Cringe.

We have been switching to hotels for similar reasons. We had an air bnb this last vacation and one said it had ac and it had a unit in 2/4 bedrooms and none in any other part of the house. The cleaning is wild especially when they charge you a cleaning fee. @Airbnb really does need to get the hosts in check or they are going to go under

PSA if you’re booking an Airbnb… My daughters rented an Airbnb in Ontario for a 30th birthday celebration. While they were in the hot tub, one of them noticed a camera pointed directly at it. There was absolutely nothing in the Airbnb listing disclosing that a camera was monitoring the hot tub or that area. They reported it to Airbnb and were fully reimbursed. But it makes you wonder, what if it had been a couple on their honeymoon or a family expecting privacy? Always check your surroundings when you arrive. If you discover an undisclosed camera, document it, report it to Airbnb immediately, and don’t ignore your instincts. #airbnb

Yup, just another reason for me to continue to choose to never ever use anything like Airbnb ever. My boyfriend almost did last year and it fell through and I think that was a sign.

i refuse to use airbnb because of horror stories and stupid bullshit like this. i’ll never leave a hotel room dirty except maybe trash bins filled and towels in a pile somewhere in the room. why am i cleaning your house and your charging ME a cleaning fee

I don't know why Airbnb is still a popular option. You're basically paying a stranger's mortgage, cleaning their house and they rate how well you performed.

Have you thought about the fact that maybe the housekeeper is lying and double charging her for a messy house when in fact it was not messy

If you want housing prices to fall …. Boycott Airbnb and other such platforms

The only times I've used AirBnB, Vrbo or a similar rental was when we were either looking for a mountain cabin or traveling with extended family and needed several bedrooms and a shared common area that a hotel lobby doesn't fit. Otherwise, these are not worth the hastle $ cost.
