At this point, are these really officers of the Nigeria Police Force or just people hiding behind uniforms? I refuse to believe this is what policing should look like. Why are the Police Officers in Ogombo Police station, Ajah refusing someone who they arrested but refused to tell him on what grounds they have, the opportunity to call his family members to inform them that he has been detained and won’t be coming home. How different is this from a kidnap? Isn’t the police your friend? Isn’t the duty of the police to protect lives & citizens? You invited a person, detained him, refused to tell him the grounds, his lawyers went to the station, the DPO REFUSED to see the lawyers. It's really sad when you think of the agenda against the Nigeria Police Force. We may not be perfect but we do not deserve this. The driver and suspect is in custody and I just spoke to him om record, he told me that there was no Police around the area the accident happened. On the morning of 16 October 2024, at the Federal Bus Stop along the Ipaja Ayobo axis, police officers in mufti chased a young man until he fell into a canal. The officers had stopped him while he was on a motorcycle. The bike rider left immediately. They searched him, insisting he was a “Yahoo boy” because of his tattoos. They cocked their guns and threatened to shoot him. As he tried to move away and deny the accusation, they pursued him, forcing him to run. In the process, he fell into the canal. During the chase, his slippers and money fell off. The officers picked them up and fled the scene when people nearby began shouting. The young man was rescued and rushed to LASUTH, where he remained unconscious for some time before he sadly passed away. If this incident had happened at night with no witnesses, it would have been treated as a missing person case, and his family would have had to seek help from the very same police officers who caused his death. It’s crazy the Irony in this; people who should protect you from harm now the prime cause of your dæth.
