This is what open robotics actually looks like! 🔓 I was in Bordeaux, sitting inside Pollen Robotics, and had a chance to play around with their humanoid robot Reachy 2. It’s expressive, modular, and can even bring you coffee, and of course runs Python or Rust. I was talking with Reachy in 3 different languages, tele-operating it and manipulating kitchen stuff, and make it even mimic my gestures. The best part is that there are no locked APIs, or hidden stuff, just an open platform that you can build upon. The connection with Hugging Face makes it super easy to start, as the open source approach allows everyone to contribute, experiment and add their own things. A GUY PUT GPT-LEVEL AI INSIDE A 3D PRINTED ROBOT AND RELEASED THE ENTIRE THING FOR FREE Most people look at a 3D printer and see plastic toys This guy printed a robot with expressive eyes, object tracking, image recognition, support for ChatGPT, Qwen and offline models, then uploaded the STL files, code and hardware designs for anyone to build themselves The interesting part isn't the robot It's how fast the gap between "I have an idea" and "I built a working product" is disappearing A few years ago this required a team of engineers Now one person with a printer, open-source software and enough curiosity can build something that looks like it came from a robotics startup We're getting very close to a world where manufacturing, AI and robotics stop being separate industries and start becoming the same thing

NAVIAI-I3, a more robust humanoid robot, was launched by the Zhejiang Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center. Standing 1.8 meters tall, it can run like a human and walk on various terrains. This humanoid robot appears to be primarily designed for specialized industrial tasks, such as security patrols in underground parking lots. They previously launched the lightweight bipedal NVAI-2 and a wheeled humanoid robot. The bipedal robot is used in manufacturing operations, while the wheeled humanoid robot is used for unstructured, flexible tasks such as warehouse sorting, supermarket shelving, and office cleaning.
