It is a threat to free societies, to democracy, and to our shared civilization. History teaches us that hatred must be confronted early. When antisemitism is tolerated, it spreads. Lies become violence. Israel’s fight today is not only for our own security, but for the values and freedoms of the free world. To Jews everywhere, especially the younger generation: do not bow your head. Stand tall. Speak the truth. When we fight antisemitism with courage and clarity, we defend not only the Jewish people - we defend humanity itself.

Today, I was honored to address over 800 congregants at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun (KJ) for Shabbat service on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Antisemitism is not a lesson of the past. It’s a problem of the present. As Mayor I will fully and aggressively enforce the human rights law. Antisemitism will have no place in our city.

For an individual to belligerently confront me because they believed I was Jewish is shocking and unacceptable. Worse than that, however, was the antisemitic diatribe that followed — blaming Jews for a myriad of issues. In NY-17, I’m proud to represent one of the largest Jewish populations in the United States, and I will always stand up for them and for all of my constituents.
