Protected species are being trapped openly, proudly, and without any fear or respect for the law. Look how these birds are crammed into this cage. If this doesn’t make you angry, I don’t know what will. Please report these activities to NEPA and the JCF immediately. I am calling on the Government to properly support these agencies with the staffing and resources they need to tackle these problems that existed long before the hurricane and continue now. That’s the Mango Hummingbird, one of the four hummingbird species found in Jamaica. This species is endemic, and it’s not something you normally see perched on someone’s shoulder! I’m happy to see people doing their part to help our wildlife, especially now in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa. Please follow and share your observations to RoostersWorldja.

Put out fruits like bananas and fallen berries in open, elevated areas away from cats and mongoose. 2. Provide a small container of clean water to act as a bird bath. Thanks to Claudia for sharing this cool video. A lizard was caught by her cat, and while she was about to dispose of it, a giant centipede suddenly emerged from nowhere and grabbed the lizard. It’s a powerful reminder that there are many predators hiding in the dark, quietly waiting for an opportunity. Nature is always active, even when we don’t see it. The mongoose was introduced to Jamaica in 1872 to control rats in sugar cane fields but it quickly became one of the worst invasive species on the island. It preys on our native lizards, snakes, frogs, birds, and their eggs, pushing some species to extinction and others to the brink. To conservationists, the mongoose is a major threat that must be managed, especially around sensitive nesting areas. To some people it is a pet. We need to have conversation about it. We have been working around the clock to prepare for Hurricane Milton and to ensure that federal, state, and local resources are being coordinated in an efficient and effective way. We urge you to take this storm seriously. Please listen to your local officials, and if you are told to evacuate, please do so immediately. Do not wait until it is too late. Already, we have sent more than 1,000 federal personnel to be on the ground in Florida to assist with preparation for this hurricane, and we will continue to scale up those efforts. We will continue to do everything we can to protect the people who are in the path of this storm. Once the storm has passed, we will be there to help folks recover and rebuild as we are continuing to do for the communities in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and across the southeast who have been devastated by Hurricane Helene.

A giant centipede hid in a follower’s underwear after using the restroom and bit her in a very sensitive area. These bites can be extremely painful and may trigger allergic reactions that require medical attention. Stay alert. Shake out clothes. We know many of you are hurting, uncertain, and anxious after Hurricane Melissa, but please know that you are not alone. So far, there have been no confirmed reports of deaths, and we are thankful for that. Our teams are on the ground working tirelessly to rescue, restore, and bring relief where it’s needed most. Recovery will take time, but the Government is fully mobilized. Relief supplies are being prepared, and we are doing everything possible to restore normalcy quickly. To every Jamaican, hold strong.
