We must restore order in our city. I was recently insulted and harassed by a group of women simply because I asked them to do the right thing move to the designated backstreets meant for hawkers. Despite their actions, I have chosen to forgive them. It's time we turn a new page and start respecting the law for the greater good of our city. Let me be clear: being poor is not a license to break the law. Poverty should never be used as an excuse to violate public order, disrupt the peace, or damage the aesthetic beauty of Nairobi. If we allow this line of thinking that someone should be excused simply because they are struggling then where do we draw the line? Will we justify theft, violence, or destruction just because the person is poor? In the same way, we cannot justify lawlessness in the streets just because hawkers are trying to earn a living. Nairobi is the capital of Kenya, a city of dignity and potential. We cannot achieve a clean, orderly, and beautiful city if our walkways are overcrowded, waste is dumped indiscriminately, and laws are ignored in the name of survival. Some are criticizing me for insisting on enforcement, saying I should "just let them be." But leadership requires making difficult decisions that protect both the present and future of our city. I will not shy away from doing what is right. Nairobi belongs to all of us, and we must protect its image, its order, and its people rich or poor by upholding the law equally.

I speak with a heavy and sincere heart. As a Kenyan, a parent and a leader, I cannot watch what is happening in our country and remain silent. The dramatic abduction of Standard Group Associate Editor Alex Kiprotich, who was seized by armed men along the Gilgil–Nakuru road, held for hours and later found near Masinga Dam, should shock the conscience of every Kenyan. This was not only an attack on an individual; it raises a much bigger question about the safety of journalists and the freedom of the media in our country. If a journalist can be taken in such a dramatic manner, what message are we sending to every reporter, editor and ordinary Kenyan who dares to question power? Media freedom is not a favour from government. Freedom of expression is not a privilege. They are constitutional rights. His Excellency the President promised that abductions would stop. Kenyans deserve to see that promise honoured not only in words, but in action. If a journalist publishes something you dislike, answer with facts, not force. If a citizen criticises you, answer them politically not through intimidation, disappearance or fear. We must know who abducted Alex Kiprotich, why he was targeted, and who authorised or facilitated it. There must be a transparent and independent investigation, and whoever is responsible must face the law, regardless of their position or institution. Kenya cannot become a country where journalists look over their shoulders before doing their work, where young people fear expressing themselves, or where families fear a knock on the door at night. This is bigger than politics. It is about the soul of our democracy. Protect our people. Protect our media. Protect our Constitution. And end the culture of abductions and fear.

I call upon Kenyan leaders to urgently intervene and protect our people who are at risk of losing their jobs in Tanzania following the new laws being enforced there. We must stand with our brothers and sisters who have invested their lives, resources, and families in Tanzania. Even those doing small businesses such as hawking should be allowed to continue earning a living. Some of our people had already run away from challenges back home and settled there for survival—now where are they expected to go? Kenya has embraced our neighbours without discrimination. In our markets, in manual jobs, hawking, kinyozi, domestic work, hawking tea, and even open maize roasting, we have given our East African brothers and sisters full freedom to operate and earn a living without harassment or discrimination. The East African Community (EAC) Common Market Protocol guarantees freedom of movement, freedom of residence, and freedom of labour, allowing East Africans to work and conduct business in any member state. If these new regulations in Tanzania contradict these agreed freedoms, then leaders must boldly speak out and seek immediate clarification. If we remain silent, someone out there is suffering. Someone is losing a livelihood. When jobs are lost, depression follows, and families break. Let’s not wait until people are in caskets for us to speak. The time to act is now. Kenya must stand with its people.

MUST THIS GOVERNMENT WAIT UNTIL WE RAISE AN OUTCRY WHILE OUR CHILDREN ARE DYING IN A FOREIGN WAR? Fellow Kenyans, Last week, I raised grave concerns about credible reports that Kenyan youth had been recruited and deployed to the Russia–Ukraine conflict zone. I warned that the silence and inaction from those entrusted with power was unacceptable. I reminded the country of Kenya’s obligations under international law, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 2331 (2016), which speaks directly to trafficking and exploitation in situations of armed conflict. Today, the Government is issuing statements and speaking of “looking into the matter.” That is not enough. Kenyans do not need public relations responses. They need action. They need leadership. They need their children brought home. We demand the immediate return of our people to Kenyan soil. The Government must stop hiding behind the language of investigations while families endure profound grief and uncertainty. Investigations may continue, but the first responsibility of the State is clear: secure the safe return of those who are alive and ensure that those who have tragically lost their lives are brought home with dignity and honour. This is not a minor administrative lapse. If young Kenyans were misled, trafficked, or facilitated into a foreign war zone under the watch of this administration, then this represents a grave failure of duty. The Ministries responsible: Foreign Affairs, Defence, and Labour - must answer plainly: 1. Who authorized or permitted this recruitment? 2. How many Kenyans are currently in the conflict zone? 3. What concrete steps are being taken to secure their immediate return? And let it be clear: once our people are accounted for and brought home, those found culpable, whether private actors or public officials must face the full wrath of the law. Accountability must not be cosmetic. It must be real, visible, and uncompromising. Kenya deserves a responsible government, one that protects its youth before tragedy strikes, not after public pressure mounts. We stand firmly with the affected families. We demand urgency. MUST THIS GOVERNMENT WAIT UNTIL WE RAISE AN OUTCRY WHILE OUR CHILDREN ARE DYING IN A FOREIGN WAR? Fellow Kenyans, Last week, I raised grave concerns about credible reports that Kenyan youth had been recruited and deployed to the Russia–Ukraine conflict zone. I warned that the silence and inaction from those entrusted with power was unacceptable. I reminded the country of Kenya’s obligations under international law, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 2331 (2016), which speaks directly to trafficking and exploitation in situations of armed conflict. Today, the Government is issuing statements and speaking of “looking into the matter.” That is not enough. Kenyans do not need public relations responses. They need action. They need leadership. They need their children brought home. We demand the immediate return of our people to Kenyan soil. The Government must stop hiding behind the language of investigations while families endure profound grief and uncertainty. Investigations may continue, but the first responsibility of the State is clear: secure the safe return of those who are alive and ensure that those who have tragically lost their lives are brought home with dignity and honour. This is not a minor administrative lapse. If young Kenyans were misled, trafficked, or facilitated into a foreign war zone under the watch of this administration, then this represents a grave failure of duty. The Ministries responsible: Foreign Affairs, Defence, and Labour - must answer plainly: 1. Who authorized or permitted this recruitment? 2. How many Kenyans are currently in the conflict zone? 3. What concrete steps are being taken to secure their immediate return? And let it be clear: once our people are accounted for and brought home, those found culpable, whether private actors or public officials must face the full wrath of the law. Accountability must not be cosmetic. It must be real, visible, and uncompromising. Kenya deserves a responsible government, one that protects its youth before tragedy strikes, not after public pressure mounts. We stand firmly with the affected families. We demand urgency. We demand transparency. We demand results.

WATCH: Mollie on how liberal Supreme Court justices are turning to *shocking* tactics all because they are not getting what they want from the Court: “I have a new book out today, 'Alito,' which tells the behind-the-scenes story of what happened with the Dobbs leak. You are correct that we have seen this increase in bad relationships between the justices or problems with leaks. And the court really does need to operate without leaks so that they can get their work done. Justices throughout the history of the court have said how important it is that they can work without fear of this type of public discussion of the topics. It is an attempt to go after the court and to achieve results that people are not able to achieve through normal court procedures. That’s what we saw with the Dobbs leak, where in my book I showed the liberal justices actually delayed their dissent in the Dobbs decision after the leak intentionally, even though their colleagues were facing death threats, and we even had an assassination threat at Kavanaugh, and it’s what you see with the most recent leak from the New York Times — the liberal justices are not happy with what they are getting, they are not winning on the strength of their arguments, so you are seeing more and more of these politicized leaks.”

[WATCH] The Joburg council minority parties motion of no confidence is one that we do not support. When Kenny Kunene was not allowed to go back we intervened and told cdes that we cannot dictate to Patriotic Alliance who they should put in. We are in coalition with them and agreed to give them the portfolio of transport, but we couldn’t dictate who goes into that portfolio. Now why is it that when the minority parties have a grievance with the mayor they want to gang up with their coalition partner and demand that the mayor must resign. In a coalition partners can’t dictate to other parties who should they bring in. #ANC114
