Tried a bit of Jak and Daxter on OpenGOAL today and it’s honestly impressive how clean it looks. The game feels sharper and smoother than I’ve ever seen it. For anyone who doesn’t know: OpenGOAL is a fan‑made project that rebuilds the original Jak and Daxter in a modern, open‑source engine so it can run natively on PC with higher resolutions and better performance. Enhancements for the first two games are already finished, and work on the third is still in development. You can even add mods and HD texture packs, since OpenGOAL supports custom assets and community-made visual upgrades. You just need a copy of the game and you’re good to go. I used UltraISO to convert my physical PS2 disc into a digital copy and it worked perfectly. 💯

#PRAGMATA really shows how far hair rendering has come on the RE Engine since Resident Evil 4 Remake. Even with the performance and VRAM hit, it’s hard to give up on the strand-based hair, as it plays a huge role in the game’s visual presentation.

I didn’t expect Crimson Desert to grow on me this much, but here we are. 🫢 After putting more hours into Crimson Desert and getting close to the ten hour mark, I’ll be honest: my opinion of the game has shifted in a much more positive direction. Combat feels significantly better now that I’ve unlocked more skills, exploration is a ton of fun, and while the story is basically nonexistent, I personally don’t mind since I’m not the type of player who needs heavy narrative to enjoy a game. I’ve also done a few puzzles, and so far I’m really enjoying them. I genuinely appreciate that the game does not hold your hand. Enough with the yellow paint in every modern game. Developers should just force us to actually think 🤣 I’m constantly unlocking or discovering something new every couple of minutes. The game is absolutely massive. On the technical side, most of the visual issues I had are now gone after turning off DLSS and playing at native resolution, along with lowering lighting from Max to Cinematic. One of these changes, or maybe both, made the game far more stable, and visually it now looks phenomenal. I still find myself stopping just to admire how beautiful it is. My rating has gone from a 7-7.5 to an 8.5-9, and based on what I’ve played so far, that jump feels completely justified. The overall takeaway is that Crimson Desert does not fully click until you unlock more of its systems. The early hours undersell it, but once combat, exploration, puzzles and the world open up, the experience becomes dramatically better. I also love this intro when you start the game or load a save. It gives the whole experience a special feeling and sets the tone perfectly every single time. :)

So i vibe coded a threejs webgpu splat renderer from scratch in an evening with gpt 5.4 Introducing Spark++ Give it a week or two, performance is slightly worse on fast camera movements but 60 fps on my toaster in less dense areas. Had to reduce overall density for screen recording, but it works on webgpu! And I have absolutely no clue how Splats work, zero Demo: Repo:

Crimson Desert visuals remind me a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2 and gameplay similar to Skyrim. The map is going to be twice the size of Skyrim and larger than Red Dead Redemption 2, but obviously map size and number of quests doesn't matter if they're all copy-pasted and repetitive. I also wasn't shocked when I found out it runs on its own proprietary engine because the visuals look truly different and unique from what I'm used to after playing a ton of UE5 games that have a similar look, hopefully the use of its proprietary engine also means a good performance with a high resolution. So far from what I've seen, this game looks stunning and sometimes I feel like it is too good to be true, I can't wait to get my hands on it and see if it lives up to all of this. This could actually be one of GOTY contenders for 2026.

Ghost of Yotei finished. My most anticipated game of the year and it definitely delivered. Visually it's a work of art with excellent combat and exploration. However, I did have some gripes. While I love the exploration, the side content itself gets a bit repetitive by the end (looking at the parkour). Also don't think the story was quite as good as GoT. Atsu is a beast and a good protagonist but Jin's storyline and character development was a little better overall. The story doesn't reach the same highs and the first ending was far better. It has its moments but overall didn't quite land for me. Overall though, definitely one of the top games of 2025. Combat and visuals are among the best in the genre. Stealth and parkour could've used bigger improvements considering how much they're used, but still good. Side quests and Mythic Tales are much improved and the overall presentation is excellent. It's more Tsushima, with a bigger arsenal, a beautiful new open world, and a new storyline to get invested in. Definitely going to end up on my GOTY list and I'm excited to work on the platinum! Final Score: 8.5/10 Platform: PS5 Pro Playtime: 45 hours #GhostofYotei #PS5

Any animators/developers know why Ubisoft just doesn't switch to JALI to use for facial animation cutscenes in Assassin's Creed? It's what Cyberpunk 2077 uses and it's one the most impressive uses of technology i've seen. I don't think it's something licensed to CDPR, because Don't Nod uses it for Lost Records. Is it because of Ubisoft's Anvil engine having it's own internal systems and tools for character animation? JALI is 10x better than their current procedural generated process. I watched the AC Odyssey GDC 2019 cutscene presentation, and it's not good. Great from a business perspective to save on costs and time, but horrendous from the perspective of playing the game as a consumer. It started with Odyssey and has carried over since in every game, and somehow it's gotten worse with AC Shadows. It needs to change.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora impressions after 15 hours: • One of the best looking games I've ever seen • Rock solid performance on PS5 • Third person mode was done very well, you really feel like a Na'vi running around • Solid story with lots of lore for Avatar fans • Third person gameplay is reminscent of Horizon but with firearms • Some light exploration. Open world content is not marked on the map unless you get a hint from an NPC. • Gathering resources is a heavy focus for crafting better gear and food • Plants and materials can have different quality levels depending on the conditions (i.e. to get a 'Pristine' one, you may have to pick it while it's raining or during the night) • Movement and traversal feels good, fast paced and fluid • Combat feels good and is mostly centered around ranged weapons • You can hack devices and enemy bots to disable them and target their weak spot Overall, if you like the idea of exploring a vast and stunning open world while immersing yourself in the world of Avatar - don't sleep on this. LATENT SPACE TERMINAL Demo v0.09 The vision behind LST is to create a portal into the multi-verse where you can explore new worlds and alternate realities. And I do mean *any* world or reality. You can basically type in anything, just like you would with ChatGPT or MidJourney, and what you get is not a single text response or image or video, but a whole world. This is a very early look at how LST is developing. There is still a lot more work to do but as with all of my projects, I like building in public. The demo shows three prompts: “space pirates”, “scary mystery story about a man eating a pickle”, “fpv shot of a passenger on a sailboat in the ocean”. I only traverse down one level in the video but each world has an infinite number of levels you can go down. Everything is generated by AI from the story to the videos to the audio. Right now, it works well on two ends of the spectrum. The weirder the better or the more realistic/documentary-like the better. Still very early, but so far it looks promising.

Samson PC Performance test on RX 9070 XT, Ryzen 7 9800X3D with 32GB of RAM. I've set the settings everything on Ultra running at output resolution of 4K with FSR is set to quality and frame-gen is turned off. There are frametime issues and performance dips that I've honestly expected as this is an Unreal Engine 5 game, the AA implementation is also not that good either as the game looks a little bit blurry
