Gone in SEVEN minutes! It must come on record that despite widespread protests & repeated demand from Opposition to send #TransgenderBill to a #Parliament Committee, Govt insisted on pushing it through by making unsubstantiated claims! See video👇 First, it's rare that debate on one Bill is stopped to take up another Bill. The debate on #Finance Bill was going on and Transgender Bill was listed AFTER it, but Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju asked for the Transgender Bill to be taken up & 'passed' today and for Finance Minister to reply to debate on Finance Bill tomorrow. It is only when a Minister is not available to respond to debate on a Bill, that it is postponed, but Finance Minister is sitting right there! What is the rush to pass #TransBill in #LokSabha today itself? Second, as Rijiju seeks sense of the House, several MPs from the Opposition, in fact, oppose and categorically demand that Bill be sent to a Select Committee to consult with stakeholders from Trans community. They even say that they raised this demand in Business Advisory Committee meeting as well and Rijiju concedes to this. JUST IN: Govt has lost no time in transmitting #NREGA repeal Bill to #RajyaSabha and will take it up today itself. At 5pm, MPs were told that they have till 5.45pm to submit any amendments (some MPs had proactively submitted amendments already, which is smart!). 8 hours allotted for debate. An MP raised a point of order that in the Business Advisory Committee, no time was allotted for this Bill. It seems that Chair came prepared to respond to this point of order. He immediately rattled out a list of Govt Bills in past which were also brought to House without time being allotted for the same! But this is not 'convention', these are bad and wrong precedents. For these few names of Bills that Chair read out (of which most were from after 2014), thousands of Bills would have been taken up after allocating time in BAC, which is how it should be. BAC is also where Govt and Opposition try to reach some consensus on Bills, sending Bills to Committees etc. Why was this 'convention' not followed? Also, any wrong in the past doesn't justify another wrong now! #Parliament #WinterSession

Immediately after that, the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was also passed WITHOUT any debate, in next 1 MINUTE 👏👏 Oh, and before we forget to mention, both these Bills were introduced today itself, just 2 hours before being passed. Constitutional Amendment Bill (N0.3) unanimously passes to committee stage The contentious Constitutional Amendment Bill (N0.3) unanimously passed to the committee stage in the National Assembly earlier in the afternoon after the opposition neglected or failed to call for a critical division of the house for MPs opposed to the legislative changes to vote against it. About 30 MPs were opposed to the bill in its entirety after a record-breaking fierce debate. A sad day for Australia, as the nation marches further down the road towards a totalitarian society. And never forget tricks used to stifle debate and public discussion. Contrary to precedent, the spirit of the Constitution and Westminster tradition, Labor introduced the Digital ID in the Senate (the House of review) instead of the House of Representatives. Then they guillotined debate in the Senate. And in House of Representatives, Labor shifted debate to the Federation Chamber where the Liberals put up token resistance with only one Liberal MP and two National MP’s bothering to speak on the Bill - and they didn’t even try any amendments to protect privacy or to try and safeguard against it being made compulsory . Thank you for everyone that fought - we won’t give up. If ONE NATION can wun enough seats at thevnext election we will repeal this bill.

There was no need for this Bill to be linked with the delimitation exercise. Knowing fully well that if 2011's census or latest census becomes the basis for delimitation, southern India will lose out heavily. Modi Govt introduced this Bill, which they knew very well, will not be able to get the 2/3rd majority that is required for a Constitutional amendment. Therefore, we as BRS, certainly express our deep concern and deep protest with respect to stifling the voice of southern India in the Parliament. We request and demand the Union Govt to fulfill the promise given to the women of this country because the Bill was already passed in 2023 with respect to women's reservation. If you have to do it, you can do with the 543 at present. All that we would like to tell you is make sure that the 24% seats that the south of India today has in the Parliament is kept intact. If that is not kept intact, this will lead to severe protest and resentment from the people of south India who have contributed to this nation in a big way..."

It is not funny that MPs are being asked to finish their speech on a Bill within only 1 minute!! Dr. M. Thambidurai was, quite literally, left speechless. #RajyaSabha is debating the Bankers Book Evidence Bill, which was passed within 4 minutes in Lok Sabha last week, without any debate. Today, as RS takes it up, Opposition MPs are not participating (probably they walked out). Earlier when a DMK MP was speaking on the Bill, she was stopped midway and her mic cut off as she tried to raise opposition's demand on other issues. Now, only MPs from NDA parties are participating in debate and even they are asked to wrap up within 1-2 minutes. Law making in #Parliament has become a joke!

It is not funny that MPs are being asked to finish their speech on a Bill within only 1 minute!! Dr. M. Thambidurai was, quite literally, left speechless. #RajyaSabha is debating the Bankers Book Evidence Bill, which was passed within 4 minutes in Lok Sabha last week, without any debate. Today, as RS takes it up, Opposition MPs are not participating (probably they walked out). Earlier when a DMK MP was speaking on the Bill, she was stopped midway and her mic cut off as she tried to raise opposition's demand on other issues. Now, only MPs from NDA parties are participating in debate and even they are asked to wrap up within 1-2 minutes. Law making in #Parliament has become a joke!

"Early this morning, the United States Senate voted overwhelmingly by a margin of 70-29 to move forward with the bipartisan national security bill. Today was supposed to be the Chagos Surrender Bill going through the House of Lords. Instead, Labour suffered a humiliating defeat, by the Conservatives in the Lords and forced to withdraw their bill. The Labour Party have rushed this Chagos surrender bill to appease their left wing lawyers, whilst overlooking the US-UK 1966 treaty, stating the British Indian Ocean Territory shall remain under the United Kingdom sovereignty. The Conservatives will continue to fight to completely kill this shameful bill.
