We’ve noticed a clear trend across Premier League training this summer: a greater emphasis on duels and defensive actions within sessions. This appears particularly prominent earlier in the training week, further away from matchday, where clubs can expose players to more intense and demanding 1v1 situations. Here’s a three phase duel practice used by Arsenal as they prepare to face Aston Villa on Monday: Phase 1: Defending a direct 1v1 dribble. Phase 2: Defending an attacker receiving with their back to goal. Phase 3: Defending a 1v1 in a wide area. Like and follow us for more.

🔥 PSG 5v5 TRANSITIONAL POSSESSION PRACTICE A fantastic possession setup designed to develop playing through pressure, fast attacking transitions and immediate counter pressing. ⚽ How It Works • Play takes place in a central 16 by 16 yard zone • The blue team aims to work the ball from one end of the practice to the other to score to score points • If the red team regain possession, they break out quickly • They can dribble through any of the four transition gates 🎯 Key Focus • Maintain good positional structure • Move the ball quickly through the central area • React immediately when possession changes • Secure the first pass into space in transition (if it's on) • Carry the ball forward with speed • Counter press aggressively after losing possession A great example from PSG of building clear attacking and transition principles into a possession practice. 📌 Save this one for your next session. 🔘Tottenham Hotspur positional game setup under Roberto De Zerbi yesterday morning 🔥 18x18 area. Locked in positions in possession ⚽ In possession: stay in your box, use the neutrals, find a way through the pressure. 🔥 Out of possession: press as a two in each half Simple Objective: Move it from one end zone to the other = score. If the pressing team win it? Roles reverse instantly. High tempo. Sharp decisions. Non stop transitions. A staple of FC Barcelona Training. Recent Session Footage 🔵🔴 FC Barcelona 4v4+3 (Centre Circle) 👥 (incl. 2 GKs as Neutrals) ⚽️ In possession: 2 players must stay in each half for passes to count 🔄 After set passes → attack either goal (❌ not straight from GK pass) 🟥 Pressing team free to chase anywhere , but must also structure 2 per half when they win it 🎯 Focus: positional discipline, quick passing, structured transitions 📥 More training session plans can be downloaded here:

This is a Manchester City positional transfer rondo from their open training session today. Very Pep Guardiola like from Enzo Maresca who it seems is keen not to change too much. Play is continuous 8v3, with the team in possession aiming to complete a set number of passes before transferring the ball into the opposite zone for one point. A bonus point is awarded if the transfer is made through the neutral link player positioned in the central dividing zone. Players are limited to one or two touches. The pressing team remains in for set time periods to ensure the workload is evenly distributed. Get more training sessions via our website.
