The Karnataka Congress government appears more interested in protecting its vote bank than protecting the sanctity of electoral rolls. Democracy cannot function on political convenience, selective scrutiny, and appeasement. The entire Opposition wants a detailed discussion on the doubts arisen regarding various discrepancies in the Voters List. Parliament must protect the faith of the people in Democracy and the Constitution of India. Election Commission of India’s as per its press release dated 2 March 2025, itself admitted about discrepancies in the country’s electoral records. There is large scale duplication of Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) across all states. This seriously undermines voter integrity and our electoral process. The Congress party has already raised the issue of the sudden surge of lakhs of voters in Maharashtra in just 6 months between Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha elections. ECI is yet to respond to our demand of providing us with a combined photo voter list in Excel format, which has been used for voting. The abrupt and unwarranted deletion of voters, the presence of duplicate EPIC numbers, and other such crucial issues affecting the integrity of our electoral process require urgent attention and discussion in Parliament. Given the serious threat these large-scale irregularities pose to the free and fair conduct of elections in our country, it is imperative for the Modi government to allow a comprehensive discussion on the matter in Parliament.

A new step towards a more efficient, transparent and digitally empowered Higher Education system in West Bengal begins today. We are introducing a new Transfer Management Module on the Banglar Uchchashiksha portal of the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal, to streamline the process of seeking transfers by College faculty. Moving away from the earlier manual application process which often resulted in delays, limited transparency and inadequate record-keeping, the new online system will enable digital submission, processing, tracking and recording of transfer applications. Importantly, Government College faculty will now have an online avenue to seek transfers in cases of special circumstances, along with the facility for mutual transfers. For Government-aided College faculty, the portal will immediately facilitate applications for mutual transfer. Following necessary amendments to the relevant Act and Rules, other transfer facilities will also be extended to them. This is another step towards making governance simpler, faster, more transparent and citizen-centric through technology. Digital governance. Transparent processes. Better service delivery.
