Love this! ... but about dictionaries: I think getting learners excited about word history is a powerful way to foster independent learning and connection-building. When I learn the history of one word, I can infer the history of at least five others.

When students know what they’re trying to learn and understand, they’re more likely to be successful. But just writing learning targets does almost nothing. Use predictions instead.”
