Based take from Dontai. Assassin's Creed 3's ending is a structural train wreck in terms of the Modern Day. Desmond was the soul of the franchise back then, and I can only imagine how disappointing it is for new fans to see such a foundational character get handled that way.

I love trains in video games. Imagine my delight to see that Assassin's Creed: Syndicate has one! 🚂 This thing is crazy. You can run atop it, inside it and hide amongst the passengers. You can also DETACH cars from the rest of the train which is hilarious 😂 The sound design in this game is top notch. The light rays gliding across the train's exterior is also quite nice.

Ezio’s link to Desmond Miles in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Revelations is one of the most underrated parts of the series imo. It's clear that Ezio is perceptive enough to realize someone beyond his time is witnessing his life through his memories, even if he can’t fully grasp how. And over time, he chooses to live and act with that in mind, shaping his legacy for a future he’ll never see. Minerva's message to Desmond and how everyone discusses it in this room has always fascinated me. It's a lot of fun.

So I beat Assassin’s Creed Liberation and it’s… a solid attempt at console quality gaming on the go. The disguise system is unique, the modern day story is the best in the franchise, and the third act had good twists. Held back by the character writing and short runtime. 7/10
