Basic Education says matric results will be published in newspapers as it's the norm. This is despite the Information Regulator saying this is illegal as prior consent from pupils is required. 38 years ago when I was pregnant with triplets, I went through the matric results in the newspaper to find inspiration for names.

She is right, it should be published, it was always like that. Those who fail, people close to them will know anyways even if results are not published.

since when has consent been a requirement? It is a set standard of the Basic Education of Mzansi Y must pupils call the shots when it's not them offering education.

But exam numbers only is not good, their names should be published as well. What about children who gets diplomas, their names are on the diploma and they are called to the front.
