NIH grant-seeking is a crazy process where researchers are asked to do more with increasingly less — with ever more years of experience required on their CVs in order to even compete for funds. The median age at which researchers received their first R01 is 42. NIH funding also generally flows to safer bets.

I agree with this, however when you on the Left have determined to censor and decide what is real data and not on the political level it calls into question "science" What needs to happen is there needs to be a calculation on the investigation on the fiscal impact and determine if the squeeze is worth the juice.
