Because this has gotten some recent attention again. Apex Legends has bugged FPS ranges, like 140-160FPS for example, where you are severely magnetized to the floor when trying to Slidehop. This Issue has existed for it's entire Lifetime and has been raised to Respawn multiple times. That this still... hasn't been addressed in a self proclaimed Movement shooter is completely unbelievable. So i'm once again calling public attention to it in yet another attempt to get this actually looked at. If you regularly reach the following FPS Ranges you HAVE TO Cap your FPS below them to prevent this magnetization issue. - 65-85FPS - 140-160FPS - 205-230FPS - 275-300FPS Even very shallow inclines extend these ranges even further. If you regularly reach FPS in these ranges use the +fps_max command to cap your FPS below one of these ranges. For example “+fps_max 270”. To be safe around inclines set your fps cap 5-10FPS below these ranges. I can guarantee you there will be people under this post utterly flabbergasted that this was the issue all along for why their movement felt so much shittier compared to the smooth movement of the Content creators they watch.show more

the fact that this, the 300fps max, and bullet slow still exist 7 years later just blows my mind

bullet slow is a deliberate gameplay design decision. You can disagree with it but that's not the same.

well i know it's deliberate but the last time they talked about it during ash/sparrow meta they said it's "more important than ever now with the slew of movement abilities" even though it doesn't affect abilities and now there's like 3x more abilities that stun in the game 😭😭

Why I played 140 frames instead of 144 the four frames above and below 144 would do this so 140 and 148 were okay

i vaguely remember someone in reddit comments investigating this in 2019/20 coming to the conclusion that this is caused with how your client ticks get aligned with the server tick making you miss the bh timing because it discards earlier inputs queuing the last one for next tick

This explains why some people dead slide more than others

The biggest reason for deadslides is A: people not understanding the slideboost cooldown and B: How slidejumps work at their core and how velocity decay around slopes play into that From my surface level testing i can not confirm the bugged FPS ranges having anything to do with Deadslides.

It was seemingly never a Problem in Titanfall 2 and doesn't happen on Bunnyhops in Apex so this feels like Apex slidehop specific.

Surprised it went this long unnoticed, I'm pretty sure this has been a thing ever since around season 10 (whichever patch nerfed horizon) and the only person I've seen complain about it was Taxi2g

Ive been locked at 180 for this very reason. I saw faide did it and so i did it. But nice to learn about the underlying cause. Makes everything more consistent at 180 for me

wtfffffff, was playing at 300 fps and movement was terrible. now at 270 and can bhop easily

Do you mean that's your current cap or your monitor hz ? What FPS do you reach uncapped ?

Both, that’s my cap and monitor highest refresh rate. I can reach up to 180 I think but not consistent at all

then 165 should be fine. If the dips below 160 are so rare that it doesn't really affect you. If you have regular drops below 160 and wanna make sure to never experience this problem you should cap at 135. You can't test this in the Fire range since you get way more FPS than in game

@AF1nest because FPS aren't static. They fluctuate. If you are just barely above a range the chance is pretty high that you regularly dip into the range. So you cap below.

For Controller players there’s also so many problems, the aim is completely off right now, I’ve asked many people about it

No wonder. I used to play on a 144hz monitor and when I upgraded to a 280hz for some reason I felt like my movement felt worse. My fps fluctuates between 240 and 280, but I capped my fps at 240 and just now and it feels way better.

I have 144hz screen. I understand it wont matter. But i cap my game to 149 fps, cuz never get below 144. Should i increase it to 155 fps?
