Been practicing and experimenting with how to use the Border effect for outline efficiently recently, specifically for using in doodles. Took an opportunity to try with some neighborhood OCs~ ☺️🙏

What's your process with these? I've tried doodling with the outline option enabled before but it tends to take me longer than full pieces usually, so I was curious on how you approach it 🤔

From what I have tried, drawing a rough sketch before creating outline layer below helps me not to get lost on the way! Then I draw lineart inside it before moving to coloring. So basically, the outline function is just to shorten the overall lineart process a bit for me.

One big downside I found on this method is that it will be hard when we want to clip some blending layers on top of the layer with outline. As they will affect the outline too, not just the color inside. Kinda annoying this way 💦

I did learn a while back that you can just put everything in a folder/group and then set the folder to have an outline instead of the layer, that way you can clip into the color without issue 🤔

Oh yeah, that's another way to work around too! Maybe doing it that way would be easier hmm. Thanks for the idea! 😆

Hehe, for me this outline method is just the way to shorten the lineart process a bit with certain downsides. Kinda fun to try playing around still!

Border goes 70% the way of making decent looking outline, so i go over it with a regular thick brush in few places to make a sharper corners and fill small holes.

Hehe yeah, that's one of the downsides I have found. Still looks neat enough for quick little doodle, I think! 😁
