Being There (1979) ends on an image so simple and so impossible that it rewrites everything that came before it. Peter Sellers turns the entire film into a philosophical riddle in one silent act.

“I’d like that very much, Ben.”

“- Growth has its season. There are spring and summer, but there are also fall and winter. And then spring and summer again. As long as the roots are not severed, all is well and all be well.”

Love this film. I even have the original film poster.

Basically, it's Magritte!

I liked the ending of Harold and Maude.

"Life is a state of mind" i always loved that movie, and the ending was mindblowing.

In my top 5 movies of all time. No matter how many times I see it, my eyes still well up with tears at the end ❤️ Thank you Peter Sellers for your truly inspired performance, RIP.

Being There was a great movie. The ending many critics read the water walking as symbolic rather than literal, suggesting that Chance succeeds bcs he does not recognize the limits that constrain everyone else he simply does what occurs 2 him unburdened by fear, ego, understanding

A single quiet gesture can flip an entire narrative on its head That final moment turns the film from satire into a lingering question about reality itself

You know the music in this scene is the secret sauce

That’s a wild ending. Funny thing is though, that I loved that movie and saw it several times, but I don’t remember the ending. So I guess it wasn’t that impactful. (Remember several other great scenes though)

This is a movie I like to watch

Most overrated movie ever.

They showed some outtakes too, at the very end where Sellers messes up and breaks character. My movie teacher said those shouldn't have been included in the film.

From Ben eulogy,“life is a state of mind”. And in Chances mind,or state of mind he doesn’t know you cant walk on water. The symbolism is amazing therefore he is able to walk on water. For him, walking on water is a possibility because his mind is not influenced by its impossibility

Life is a state of mind One of my favorite movies

Masterful insight Sellers final silent act redefines the film as profound riddle

Great film.

Chauncey Gardener Great movie

Greatly overrated

There were many funny moments in this movie. But the ending is seared in my memory. The last laugh was on us.

Platoon - the ending left me gutted.

Spotlight. That ending shook me to the core.

One of my all-time favorites.

Such a magical movie. Always reminds me of my dad for some reason

"Chance, the Gardener."

I'm so sorry he made another (crappy) movie after this. This should have been his last.

It's a great film, I was never a fan of his, but I enjoyed this performance!

Never seen so thanks for that

Primal Fear

This movie is the cure for insomnia.
