Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Thursday announced a special grant of Rs 2,000 crore for upgrading damaged ward roads across five city corporations under Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). Officials have been directed to identify poor roads, prepare estimates, float short-term tenders and begin work immediately, with a target to complete projects within four to six months. The minister also reviewed Bengaluru’s garbage crisis, directing officials to strictly enforce door-to-door waste collection, mandatory wet-dry waste segregation, GPS tracking of garbage vehicles, and stronger action against littering. A special drive will clear roadside garbage, debris and weeds. If every taxpayer can be tracked for every rupee he owes the government, why can’t the government show taxpayers where every rupee spent on roads has gone? The Government has admitted at various points that nearly ₹5,500 crore has been spent on Bengaluru’s roads. Citizens have a right to know where this money has gone and what outcomes it has delivered. My demand is simple. Within the next 30 days, the Government must launch a publicly accessible live dashboard for all road infrastructure works in Bengaluru. Every citizen should be able to see: • Which road is being worked on • The cost of the project • The contractor executing it • The officer responsible • The timeline for completion • The maintenance period • The defect liability period • The real-time status of the work This is not a difficult reform. Bengaluru is India’s technology capital. Hundreds of technology professionals would gladly volunteer their expertise to help build such a platform. Transparency creates accountability. Accountability improves quality. Quality builds public trust. ₹5,500 crore later, Bengaluru deserves answers. Build the dashboard. Put every road work online. Hosa Road, after Nandhini Junction towards Electronic City in Bengaluru, has been in the same deteriorated condition for the past year. The road is riddled with massive potholes, and calling them potholes would be an understatement. These are more like craters you’d expect to find on the surface of the moon, not on a major road in one of India's largest cities. Despite Bengaluru being known for its rapid development and high-tech infrastructure, the state of this road is a glaring exception. Bengaluru package: Study at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, survive Bannerghatta Road, and heal at Jayadeva Hospital People regularly pass through this stretch of road, which begins near Jayadeva Hospital and continues up to the main road entrance. Unfortunately, the entire stretch is riddled with multiple potholes, making daily commuting extremely difficult and unsafe.Because of this poor road condition, bike riders are the worst affected. Their vehicle suspensions are getting severely damaged, and constant jerks are taking a toll on their backs and overall health.
