🚨 Benin 🇧🇯- What the hell is going on? It was already night in Cotonou when the people came out to support the army like they did on Sunday morning when they heard that Talon was captured? We can clearly hear “Vive les patriotes! Vive les patriotes!” Meaning, long...

Why did the coup in Cotonou (Benin) against President Patrice Talon fail? Prof PLO Lumumba gives his reasons. "Within the armed forces, I suspect that those particular realities (different ethnic groups) still play and coupled by financial interests and foreign influence, these individuals could not succeed. I asked my friend who was in Porto Novo, but have they held Patrice Talon? If they haven't held him then there is no coup. "

According to sources close to Benin's🇧🇯 President Patrice Talon, the situation is under control. "It's a small group of people who only have access to television. The regular army is regaining control. The city (Cotonou) and the country are completely secure," he said. "Everything is under control. They did not succeed in taking the president's residence or the presidential palace." "It's only a matter of time before everything returns to normal. The cleanup is progressing well," a military source told AFP. Foreign Minister Olushegun Adjadi Bakari told Reuters "a small group" of soldiers had attempted to overthrow the government but that forces loyal to Talon were working to restore order "There is an attempt but the situation is under control... A large part of the army is still loyalist and we are taking over the situation," he said. At least eight soldiers, several wearing helmets, went on state television to announce that a military committee led by Colonel Tigri Pascal had taken over and was dissolving national institutions, suspending the constitution and closing air, land and maritime borders. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE First released on July 4, 1969. Yoko: All those Vietnam protests really changed the world. There was always that element who were really resisting it. That was the saving grace – that people were aware that they were that young generation who were really against it. And so it worked very well for the world. And the Bed-In was just part of it, a definite part of it. It was a statement on a very theatrical level and I think it was very effective. We were artists and did it our own way. We felt very good about it then, and it was such an incredibly strange thing that we were doing. At the time it was a courageous thing to do. John was making the statement in a way that he was looking at the far, far future. I saw it in his eyes. He was saying, ‘OK this is what we’re going to do together.’ And we’re going to give peace a chance. To the world.

#WATCH | Crash landing in Baramati | Baramati, Maharashtra: An eyewitness at the spot says, "I saw it with my eyes. This is really painful. When the aircraft descended, it seemed it would crash, and it did crash. It then exploded. There was a massive explosion. After that, we rushed here and saw that the aircraft was on fire. There were 4-5 explosions in the aircraft again. More people came here, and they tried to pull the people out (of the aircraft). But since this was a huge fire, people could not help. Ajit Pawar was onboard and this is really painful for us. I can't describe it in words..."

Last night my childhood was crushed when I learned Mark Curry/ Mr. Cooper did not actually play in the NBA. I had a Mandela Effect that he did, I saw the highlights on local news, and they just used it in the show (I was ten fwiw) Is this just me?

The RSS believes that India is one idea and we believe that India is a multiplicity of ideas. We believe that everybody should be allowed to participate, allowed to dream, and given space regardless of their caste, language, religion, tradition or history. This is the fight, and the fight was crystallised in the election when millions of people in India clearly understood that the Prime Minister of India was attacking the Constitution of India. Every single word that I have said to you is in the Constitution. The foundation of modern India is the Constitution. What people understood in the election clearly, and I saw it happening when I used to raise the Constitution, people understood what I was saying. They were saying that the BJP is attacking our tradition, attacking our language, attacking our states, attacking our histories. Most importantly, what they understood was that anybody who is attacking the Constitution of India is also attacking our religious tradition. That is why in my first speech in Parliament you must have noticed when I describe Abhayamudra, the fact that this is a symbol of fearlessness and it is present in every single Indian religion. When I was saying this, the BJP could not stand it. They don't understand, and we are going to make them understand. The other thing that happened was that the fear of the BJP vanished. We saw that immediately, within minutes of the election result, nobody in India was scared of the BJP or the Prime Minister of India. So these are huge achievements, not of Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party. We are peripheral. These are huge achievements of the people of India who realised democracy, of the people of India who realised that we are not going to accept an attack on our Constitution. We are not going to accept an attack on our religion, on our state. : Shri Rahul Gandhi 📍Dallas, USA

Baier: I just got off the phone with the president…. I asked, “what you are saying is you know there is somebody on the ground in Iran that is going to rise up?” He said, “yeah, I feel there is. I feel that and some of them are no longer with us to be honest because it was 49 leaders that were taken out. That was going to take four weeks we thought to get rid of the Iranian leadership and it is always, you know, if they hide, it is a lot longer than four weeks. They would have been hiding. We were shocked when we heard what was going on. We knew exactly what was happening… they are talking about using people now that nobody ever heard of—even they don't know. They are using people, studying people to be the leader that even they don't know who they are. Can you believe that?” I said it's a tough succession plan in Iran. He said, “49 leaders is deep. It's very deep. When they met, they met for breakfast. They assumed it was good for a lot of reasons. Number one they didn't think we knew. You never attack in the morning having to do with wind and sun and a lot of things. It was amazing that we knew everything we knew.”

That time I landed a trophy smallmouth trolling a jitterbug from a drone. This still stands as one of the top five moments of my life. Funny story: I did an interview about this on a Vermont radio station afterwards. The initial interview was hilarious, we were all laughing. A week later, I saw that they did a follow-up / borderline apology because people were calling in, claiming it wasn’t legal in the state of Vermont. Whether or not that was true, this was in Quebec, where it was definitely not prohibited (at least at the time). But Quebec subsequently went onto amend its drone laws, and now prohibits “transporting live animals via drone”. Not sure if that includes / prohibits drone fishing, but I like to call that the “Viva amendment” 😂

.Governor Tim Walz on his meeting with Border Czar Tom Homan: “It was a little more grounded in reality. It was an acknowledgement that the situation is not what they want...it was somewhat of a glimmer of hope that at least it felt like we were dealing on the same reality.”

Magaziner: We had the Brown University shooting a while back. When that manhunt was going on, Kash Patel tweeted that they got the guy when it was the wrong guy. If there is a suspect at large and you have the director of the FBI saying “we got him” when they didn’t, that puts people’s lives in danger. I don’t know if he was drunk when he did that, but I do know that he is unfit for the job.

Cornelius Chepsoi, Chair Rig Owners Association: There is a lot of talk in the media that this is a matatu strike; it is not a matatu strike. This is a nationwide strike by Kenyans. The Minister came back with an offer from the state of 8 shillings, which our members out rightly refused. The original proposal was that they take out the entire 46 shillings that they increased in the last cycle. The agreement was that the strike goes on, and we maintain it until we agree. In the Minister’s words, he said in Michuki’s time, people walked to work for two months until a solution was found. It is not right for CS Wandayi to change the statement on the floor, that is not speaking in good faith #CitizenMondayReport

Another very important testimony on what happened in the now infamous Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations in Türkiye, 6 weeks into the war. This time by Jean-Daniel Ruch 👇, who was Switzerland's ambassador to Türkiye at the time. He confirms other accounts that it is the West - specifically "the Americans with their British allies" - that "pulled the plug on the negotiations" when they were "on the edge" of succeeding. He says they did so because they thought it was too early and they wanted to "first weaken Russia". As he describes it, he found the decision "deeply immoral" because "it was clear at that time that if the war continued there would be an escalation and the dead would be at least in the tens of thousands, more likely in the hundreds of thousands". He asks, rhetorically: "why did all these people die?" because now "they may have weakened Russia but they weakened the whole West at the same time, maybe not the Americans but certainly Europe." Also, if a peace deal was done today, it would still "pretty much be based on what was negotiated in Istanbul", assuming the Russians are still willing, a tall order given he's "not so sure that the Russians are prepared to compromise today."

#WATCH | Bengaluru, Karnataka: On the US-Israel vs Iran conflict, Indian badminton player PV Sindhu says, "... Initially, I was supposed to go to England, but unfortunately, when I landed on the 28th of February, the war also started, and flights were suspended... It was very stressful at that point in time... Dubai is one of the safest places, but it was so unfortunate that this happened. The immigration was shut; they were not allowing people to go outside the airport because it was so crowded... We got a call that there is a loud sound and a lot of smoke... It was terrifying when we heard that... I could hear sounds like five, six times... On one side, I was missing my tournament; the days were actually going on, and on the other side, I was thinking that safety is very important... The Emirates got in touch and took our details, and we immediately rushed to the airport and got our tickets, and then we were back in India..."
