Airlines are urging the government to step in to protect business travel, holiday flights and freight operations from the economic fallout of the war in the Middle East, ITV News understands. A confidential briefing document submitted to ministers and the aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority, seen by ITV News, warns that if the disruption "continues or worsens," airlines will be forced to cut flights and push up fares. The document, from Airlines UK, which represents British Airways, easyJet, Jet2, Loganair, Ryanair, TUI, UPS and Virgin Atlantic, warns that jet fuel costs have doubled, with fuel accounting for around a third of airline operating costs.

🚨🇺🇦🇷🇺 Russia is facing an aviation-fuel shortage serious enough to affect military aviation, according to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence. Ukraine’s HUR says Moscow has begun importing Jet A-1 fuel from South Korea and Egypt to offset the deficit. One tanker delivered 11,000 tonnes from South Korea to Vladivostok, while two vessels transported another 59,000 tonnes from Egypt to St. Petersburg. Ukrainian intelligence also says it has identified specific companies involved in the supply schemes. 🔥 If the shortage is already affecting military aviation, the problem goes beyond the civilian fuel market. Russia is being forced to draw on external supply chains for a resource directly tied to sortie generation, training and sustained air operations, exposing another pressure point in the logistics supporting its war effort.

India imports energy worth about ₹150 billion every year; and as our green energy transition moves steadily ahead under PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji’s guidance, we have now achieved 20% ethanol blending. This in effect means that we were able to save about ₹1,40,000 crore on our import bills. At the same time, even as we diversify the feedstock for ethanol production and now include crops like maize which use less water, we have been able to strengthen the agricultural economy by giving ₹40,000 crore annually to our farmers - thus also transforming our Annadatas into Urjadatas. On Sunday, Russian President Putin convened an emergency government meeting to address the ongoing fuel crisis in the country, caused in main part by Ukrainian strike campaign on Russian fuel infrastructure. Putin announced that Russia is introducing a full ban on export of gasoline and aviation kerosene, while a ban on diesel fuel is also being considered. He also noted that despite releasing accumulated fuel to the domestic market, the reserve level remains practically the same as it was last year in the same period.

This pilot project will test a 2% isobutanol BLEND with diesel 🤯 Note: Isobutanol has a lower calorific value (energy content) than regular diesel. The government has also announced the rollout of E85 and E100 ethanol fuels. A 10-month technical assessment will determine whether isobutanol can be used as a seamless “DROP-IN” replacement for standard diesel. This is part of the broader strategy to reduce crude oil imports and promote alternative biofuels.
