Billions of dollars leave Alberta every year through equalization, yet our governments throw those numbers around as if they’re just another line in a budget. But do we actually stop and think about what a billion dollars really means? Time to Let Alberta Decide 🙌🏽

@LetABDecide No it leaves the province via federal taxes, the same as every other fucking province.

@LetABDecide Thx Tips. And it’s an overpayment of billions for which we receive no services/funding in return.

@LetABDecide As of July 2025, the Feds subsidize O&G to the tune of $38 billion a year, with various programs. So you’re still short. Pay up!

@LetABDecide Care to share your pay stub with the equalization deduction at source? No? Because it doesn't exist, right?

@LetABDecide 🤦♀️ it’s a visual analogy. Your comment during change the fact that Albertans overpay billions to Ottawa that we receive no services/funding in return

@LetABDecide Do more research. You'll be surprised.

@miss_tanyac @LetABDecide I would suggest you do your own research. Equalization is the net of total tax contribution from a province versus the transfers back. I have done the homework - principal author of the Value of Freedom. Prove me wrong.

@miss_tanyac @LetABDecide Yeah, your definition of equalization is way off..which I fully expected.

@LetABDecide It's called taxation you feral numpty. Empty headed people think we are somehow wronged by paying the exact same fed tax rate as every other Canadian. It was Harper and Kenney who brought us the latest equalization formula hon, if you're wondering who to rage hate against.

@LetABDecide That money is the TAXES paid from your earnings. Where do you think infrastructure, hospitals, schools etc. come from ? If that bothers you then why does theAB gov. let hundreds of billions leave AB and only collect tens of billion on their pathetic 13.5% royalties ?

@LetABDecide A billion dollars represents 20,000 years of work for a person earning $50,000 per year.

@LetABDecide Small correction: Alberta doesn't send billions of dollars in equalization payments. Individuals and businesses in Alberta pay federal taxes, which go into general revenues. Equalization is then paid by the federal government to provinces.

@LetABDecide

@LetABDecide WOW! What a great analogy! You always come up with a very unique and practical way to describe things. Thank you!

@LetABDecide Take a basic socials class treasonous lying fucking maggots

@LetABDecide Have the day you deserve! ✌🏽

@LetABDecide Exactly zero dollars leaves Alberta every year through equalization We pay taxes. Same taxes as everyone else

@LetABDecide Tell me how equalization funds leave Alberta? I'll tell you how, federal income tax which EVERY Canadian pays exactly the same. You want to talk about how the federal government uses those funds I'll listen but this argument is dead.

@LetABDecide It's called taxes. BTW, Alberta gets higher federal transfers per capita than Ontario. That doesn't include sudsidies for Alberta businesses. Is there no lie too big for seppies?

You’re conflating two completely different things. Yes, Alberta receives federal transfers like every other province, mainly for health care and social programs. The real question is whether Albertans pay more into Ottawa than Ottawa spends here. For decades, Alberta has been Canada’s largest net fiscal contributor. Pointing to health and social transfers doesn’t change that fact any more than receiving a tax refund means you paid no taxes.

@LetABDecide Ontario is the biggest net contributor. What they pay in taxes would cover all equalization payments for the country, plus transfers to Alberta and what's left would still be more than what Alberta sends annually

@LetABDecide If equalization ended tomorrow, our federal tax payable wouldn’t change. Alberta sends nothing. All Canadians contribute equally based on their income.

@LetABDecide

@LetABDecide The system is flawed Quebec provides power subsidies and therefore doesn’t claim full value on their power produced . It allows them to report under market value on this resource and then the collect billions in transfer payments .

@LetABDecide Even more money leaves Alberta to private corporations. All thanks to conservatives like yourself 👍

@ikwilson @LetABDecide Love these posts you do Tanya! Keep up the good work! #AlbertaIndependence

@LetABDecide Those are just taxes. End equalization tomorrow and you'd still pay the same federal income tax.

@LetABDecide I think many have lost sight of how much $1 Billion actually is worth. If the province kept the average $27 Billion per year its almost unimaginable what can be done with that much money.

@LetABDecide That's not how equalization works. Everybody pays the same taxes. Alberta makes more per person, because uneducated people make $200K+ per year. Everybody pays tax on the same scale. Lets try reducing your wages first, lol.

@LetABDecide Let’s go Alberta we can do this.

@LetABDecide I pay far more in income tax than the average Albertan does, yet I still don't want to destroy my own country. The last thing I want is to hear some midwit cuck droning on about equalisation payments.

@LetABDecide Load of utter shite. The only thing that leaves is your taxes. Just like every other taxpayer in every other province and territory.

@LetABDecide taxes they're are called taxes you dumb shit.

@LetABDecide It's not "for equalization" and AB contributes 16% of Canada's GDP, basically equal to our population percentage. Income taxes are paid for at the same rate by EVERY CANADIAN, and sent to general revenue. From that, many payments are made to every province, including AB

@LetABDecide Do you actually get Canada is comprised of provinces?

@LetABDecide 20B a year leaves AB through oil discounts to the USA. HUNDREDS of billions has been handed over by successive AB conservative govts that have slavishly served their US masters.

@LetABDecide I assume you are just as pissed at the "equalization" payments made within the province? La Crete just got 24M for a hamlet of just over 4000.

@LetABDecide Sweet Jaysus..maybe u could buy a couple other provinces,a Stanley Cup,and have enough left over to fly everybody from somewheres else,home for Christmas with that kinda chuckaway dough.Gas at 50 cents & steak @$1.25..own anthem,provincial bird,and a king& queen.🤔😂

@LetABDecide Btw, you must be thrilled that Justin Trudeau was able to build TMX despite being spat in the face by Albertans while he was getting it done. What does TMX haul in for Alberta yearly now? What is it? Something north of 4 BILLION $ a year?

@LetABDecide Yeah! Make billionaires illegal.

@LetABDecide Might as well be arguing the wage gap and complaining about the patriarchy 🤭 Neo-liberalism
