As we had warned, the ongoing incompetence of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in managing these elections has now escalated into a serious crisis that threatens the credibility of our democracy. In KwaZulu-Natal, Ward 18, voting machines went missing during the election process. These machines were later discovered by ground forces of the MK Party in a nearby neighbourhood not by the IEC itself. This shocking breach of electoral security is not just a technical failure, but a deliberate act of sabotage. Those involved in this criminal conduct have been handed over to the police, and we are demanding that the IEC officials responsible for overseeing this ward be investigated and arrested. We have also received credible reports that certain IEC officials are actively encouraging voters to support particular political organisations. Such conduct is criminal and cannot be tolerated. We strongly believe that these actions could not have taken place without the direct involvement or negligence of IEC officials. Therefore, we are calling for a full and independent investigation into the IEC’s conduct, including the possibility of internal collusion with political actors. The MK Party will not rest while our democratic processes are being hijacked. We will continue to confront and expose this corruption. The struggle for a free, fair, and transparent election is not over and we are prepared to fight this battle to the end. The MK Party leadership on the ground has demanded that the voting station be closed with immidiate effect and that the IEC to be held accountable. Democracy demands action, not excuses.
