BOMB SQUAD called into Leeds waste recycling centre after suspicious package found Large cordons were in place tonight around a popular retail complex along with a huge emergency response. It follows the discovery of a package within the Kirkstall Recycling centre on Kirkstall Road this evening. The Royal Logistics Crop (bomb squad) were called at around 5pm to the scene after the discovery. Yorkshire Ambulance dispatched their incident response to the scene along with specialist ambulance officers. West Yorkshire Fire and rescue sent an appliance from Leeds and a specialist fire officer to coordinate the response between all services. West Yorkshire Police have confirmed; “Police were called at 4.58pm by a caller reporting finding a potentially suspicious package in an outbuilding at a recycling plant on Redcote Lane, Leeds. “Officers have attended and the area has been evacuated as a precaution while the item is assessed.” Cordons were lifted at around 10pm.
