Interesting design. Absolutely would not want to work around it, it will whiplash knock you out - then try to ship you somewhere.

Does Boston Dynamic have anything that is actually in use in the masses? Seems like the typical gov research project without any actual use. Moving the business to Google almost guarantees it won’t ever come to fruition. If you don't believe me, look at Google’s lWaymo project, which has had to kick into high gear because of Tesla Cybercab.

Looks like design thinking inspiration for this robot taken from some bipedal dinosaurs, like Coelophysis, the tail played a role in locomotion. 3-D gait simulations show that the tail likely balanced the dinosaur's weight and helped regulate its angular momentum while running.
