Hello Chennai here comes your third Mangrove Magic ! Along the Buckingham Canal, the Chennai Forest Division has planted 20,000 mangrove seedlings across 20 hectares during 2025–26. What you see here is the fishbone structure to support healthy tidal flow. 8 main fishbone canals have been created with 8 feeder canals and 186 distribution channels. This is supported by Team ICICI Bank under their CSR initiative This effort builds on the earlier phases wherein 12,500 mangrove seedlings were planted near Kazhipattur along the Buckingham Canal in 2024–25, with 2,500 associate coastal species, followed by 5,000 mangroves planted at the Battle of Adyar Island estuary. Step by step, TN Forest Department is building Chennai's living coastal bioshield restoring mangroves that protect the city, nurture biodiversity and strengthen climate resilience. Kudos to Chennai DFO Thiru Saravanan and his entire team 💪🙌 #Mangroves #Chennai #Climateaction #ClimateAction

You’re looking at 25 hectares of living green wonder. Planted in 2023 under the Tamil Nadu Green Mission, the mangroves of Kudikadu village in Cuddalore District now stand as a thriving bioshield along the coast. After clearing invasives like Prosopis juliflora and creating fish-bone tidal channels, 25,000 mangrove saplings were planted followed by another 20,000 in 2024-25 through linear and block planting. With over 90% survival, Rhizophora is flourishing while native Sonneratia apetala and Bruguiera gymnorhiza have been introduced successfully. These mangroves are stabilising riverbanks, helping fish nurseries supporting livelihood of local communities. Kudos to team Cuddalore led by the Conservator, DFO, Ranger and field staff 💪#TNForest #Climateaction #ecosystemrestoration #Mangroves #GreenTNMission

In Kudikadu village, in Cuddalore where the Uppanar and Gadilam rivers meet the Bay of Bengal, a stunning new Mangrove Island has taken root. 37,500 saplings were planted in 2023 by the TN Forest Department under the Green TN Mission in 25 hectares adopting a modified fishbone canal design for maximum tidal flow creating a “Bio-Shield”. This is bringing back the fish stock for local fisherfolk and creating climate resilience. This is how it looks now. As our boat glided through the choppy waters of the Muthupet lagoon, hundreds of seagulls followed, circling, diving, and dancing in the air, drawn by the easy fishing opportunities created by our boat. Muthupet, a coastal town in Tamil Nadu meaning “land of pearls,” is home to the state’s largest mangrove forest. Fed by Koraiyar, Pamaniyar and other rivers, the region forms a rich, fish-filled lagoon. Spanning about 12,020 hectares across six reserved forests, the Muthupet mangrove wetland complex is a vibrant blend of mangroves, creeks, lagoons, and mudflats an ecosystem full of life. We need to protect and conserve these incredible reserves of #coastalbiodiversity #Mangroves #fieldvisit

Heartening to see resident pelicans and other birds in Ennore. A very fruitful field visit to Ennore Creek with my team to review the mangrove restoration and new plantation work undertaken by the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, GOTN, after the oil spill in December 2023. With support from the Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust, we took a massive eco-restoration drive for Mangroves. Over the past two years, more than 230 hectares of invasive Prosopis have been cleared, making way for new mangrove plantations. 1.6 lakh mangrove seedlings and 2 lakh mangrove associate plants, including species like Avicennia marina, Rhizophora mucronata, and Excoecaria agallocha have been planted across 9 villages, including Puzhuthivakkam, Katupalli, and Edayanchavadi. Advanced techniques such as fishbone and linear planting were adopted based on soil and water analysis. The initiative has not only revived the ecosystem but also created local employment. Currently, 32,000 mangrove and 40,000 associate seedlings are being raised to replace casualties using the southwest monsoon. Kudos to the DFO Tiruvallur Thiru Subbiah and the entire team of forest rangers, guards and watchers for successfully completing this challenging task #MangroveRestoration #EnnoreCreek #EcoRecovery Tamil Nadu Forest Department #Mangroves

Here is some fabulous news on the International Day of Forests 2025. Tamil Nadu is on a Mission to create new Mangrove forests & restore degraded ones.Through strategic afforestation & ecosystem revival efforts, the state is reinforcing its natural coastal defense and fostering biodiversity through Green TN Mission. New Mangrove forests have been planted in 5,937.9 acres while restoration of degraded Mangroves forests has been done in 3,539 acres across 10 districts, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Ramanathapuram,Thoothukudi and Chennai. The best news is this is being done with local community participation. This will give a massive biodiversity boost to local livelihood of fisherfolk, strengthen climate resilience as these forests act as natural shields against coastal erosion and will help in carbon sequestration being the best natural carbon sinks, tackling climate change. With science backed restoration and sustained efforts, every hectare restored is a step towards a greener, more resilient future #MangroveRestoration #ClimateAction #GreenTamilNadu #CoastalResilience #Mangroves #GreenTNMission #worldforestday #internationaldayofforest2025 #internationaldayofforest Global Mangrove Alliance

Chennai you are looking at the newly planted fabulous mangrove green belt in the heart of the city at Adyar ! As part of our passionate Mangrove Mission drive, the Tamil Nadu Forest Department has planted 5,000 mangrove saplings across 5 hectares, adding a shining green jewel to city's biodiversity heritage. At the Adyar Estuary near Broken Bridge, the Chennai Forest Division has created a fishbone with three main canals and 62 distribution canals across the Battle of Adyar Island. To protect these from grazing 582 metres of fish nets and even used sarees have been fixed as barriers. This initiative will contribute to shielding Chennai’s coast from cyclones and sea-level rise. Kudos to Chennai DFO and his dedicated team #TNMangroveMission #TNForest #Mangroves #Climateaction

I hereby Nominate West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee; a self proclaimed PhD from the fictitious & imaginary 'East Georgia University', for the next Nobel Prize in Geography and Botany for her historic and game-changing idea - Mangroves in the Mountains !!! Mangroves are a special type of salt-tolerant trees that typically grow in salty and brackish water in the coastal areas near the sea. Mangrove forests or tidal forests are an unparalleled shield of nature, whose role in coastal protection, providing habitat for biodiversity, and combating climate change is immeasurable. It's like a living defense system for coastal regions. This unique ecosystem protects coastal areas from deadly waves, storms, cyclones, and other marine problems. And this muddy saline wetland is the habitat for numerous insects, fish, reptiles, birds, and other creatures. Mamata Banerjee has decided to plant mangroves in the mountains of North Bengal, to prevent catastrophic floods !!! Topography can go for a toss !!! The People of West Bengal are waiting desperately for the tide to turn in West Bengal. Our State is becoming a laughingstock in front of the entire country because of her idiocy...

Protecting the environment is a constant priority for CGN. CGN is committed to the coexistence of clean energy development and ecological environmental protection. Through its "eco-nuclear power" model, it has created a biodiverse ecosystem in and around its nuclear power bases. Examples include protecting egrets and stony corals in Daya Bay, creating flower fields along the Hongyan River, restoring mangroves in Fangchenggang, and relocating and protecting rare Welwitschia mirabilis in Namibia. This has fostered a rich biodiversity ecosystem across the entire nuclear power base and surrounding waters. #EcologicalProtection; #MarineProtection; #Biodiversity; #Coexistence

Bill Gates “saved” Africa… by DESTROYING their food supply 🚨 Forrest Galante: “I’m going to go on a f-ing rant here. They gave millions of mosquito nets out to all these people to avoid malaria. Guess what the people who are starving to death did with their mosquito nets. They fished with them. Mosquito net has a hole that is so small that a mosquito can’t get through. So guess what? These mosquito nets now indiscriminately catch tiny baby fish in areas like Cahora Bassa where the fish go to breed and reproduce and populate. So now all of a sudden you have thousands and thousands of people that have been handed nets that have been living one way for hundreds of thousands of years. They don’t give a shit about malaria. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation come in, hand out millions of mosquito nets, absolutely collapse the entire population of fish that feed millions of people because these people just take the nets and fish all the baby fish out so that those fish don’t grow up to make substantial protein sources. So now these wonderful philanthropists that have given out millions of nets have destroyed an ecosystem, crashed a fish population, and created widespread hunger for people that otherwise had plenty of resources. All because they were trying to help with their mosquito nets. They’ve taken such a rich and important part of Africa, one of the most abundant freshwater fisheries in the world, and destroyed it because they’re ‘helping’ by handing out mosquito nets. And they’re still giving out mosquito nets, by the way. And you literally watch these guys line up, take a mosquito net, and it never goes in their house. It goes straight to catching fish for them to eat.”

This video gives a rare glimpse into the "fishy" proclivities of wolves in our area. The video was taken in spring just a short distance from a creek wolves have fished at for many years. This past spring was the 10th year we have documented wolves hunting and catching fish—a behavior that had not been documented in boreal systems such as ours until our work, in part, because it is a tough behavior to observe. What is particularly fascinating is that this wolf was not only carrying a fish but carrying two of them. This is interesting because when we captured this behavior on video for the first time in 2018, we observed a wolf fishing, drop them on the creek bank, and wade back in to continue fishing. I.e., the wolf was not immediately consuming the fish it caught but rather fishing while the fishing was hot, and then once the fishing cooled down, would consume the fish. And this video seems to provide some additional evidence that it might be a widespread strategy wolves use. Two other interesting tidbits from this video: 1.) The wolf that dropped the fish was a yearling wolf. The wolf that grabbed the fish at the end was a different wolf. More specifically, the breeding female of the Half-Moon Pack and the older sister of the yearling wolf. 2.) Surprisingly, the black bear seemed very perplexed at finding this fish, and just left it alone without even taking a little nibble. We would have expected a bear to readily take a free meal like this but apparently not. We have collected of detailed information on how, when, where, and why wolves hunt fish in our area. You can read all about that in our scientific article (which is freely-available at the link below!): Freund et al. 2023. The ethology of wolves foraging on freshwater fish in a boreal ecosystem. Royal Society Open Science.

If it’s not on the list, it stays off the plate. Here’s Huberman’s list: • Meat • Fish • Eggs • Chicken • Fruit • Vegetables • Water • Caffeine HUBERMAN: “I have several friends just by way of example who reached their 40s quite overweight, 50s quite overweight, 30 to 60 pounds overweight. “And they’d come to me and they’d say I want to lose weight. “Every single one of them has been highly successful in rapidly losing that weight and keeping it off the following way. “I’m not a nutritionist. I say you can eat meat, fish, eggs, chicken, fruit, and vegetables, and that’s it.** “And drink water and caffeine, and don’t consume calories in beverages. “And every single one of them lost 30, 60 pounds and has kept it off.” ADDED CONTEXT: What this diet really does is eliminate ultra-processed food completely. And according to Huberman, it has worked for weight loss every single time.

Here it is: Tyranny on American soil: Communists, like a virus, have taken root all the way up in Oregon. A ‘quite’ ballot initiative has been introduced in Oregon called “Initiative Petition 28,” the PEACE Act, for the second time. If it passes, it will make it illegal to hunt, fish, or raise animals—even on your own land. In other words: farming on your own fucking land. “They’re going to raid all of our farmers and go after them because they’re trying to quietly pass it and make it so we all have to eat from stores instead of shopping at farmers’ markets and stuff.”

Belarusian hackers claim to have completely destroyed the internal IT infrastructure of the Russian Aeroflot company. "Together with our colleagues from Cyber Partisans BY, we announce the successful completion of a long-term and large-scale operation, as a result of which the entire internal IT infrastructure of Aeroflot - Russian Airlines was fully compromised and destroyed. For over a year, we were embedded within their corporate network, systematically expanding our access and penetrating to the very core of the infrastructure - Tier 0," the statement says. According to the hackers, as cited by Russian media, the damage caused by the attack is estimated in the tens of millions of dollars. Russian Telegram channels report that since early morning, Aeroflot has been cancelling or delaying all flights, and a major transport collapse is unfolding at Sheremetyevo Airport amid the chaos. Aeroflot itself has described the incident as a mere "technical glitch."

China has destroyed over 20000 acres of Coral Reefs in the South China Sea, mostly inside the Philippines's waters. Inside the Philippines' waters, over 4000 acres of Coral Reefs have been destroyed by the illegal Chinese Giant Clam Poachers alone. Under the protection of the Chinese Navy & China Coast Guard, Chinese poaching boats would sail right up to the coast of the Philippines and start to do their destructive work. To get to the giant clams, the poachers would anchor small boats over the fragile reefs, stick their long screw shafts right into the soft coral, and then rev their engines hard, completely shredding the coral into pieces. This is being done on a large scale, and the effect on the coral reef has been devastating. Where miles of vibrant, fish-feeding coral used to be, there is now only miles of dead, grey nothingness. This is a mock interview of Rahul Bansal, IPS trainee. Look at how he was concerned about corruption in the bureaucracy, how he himself had been a victim of it, and how he expressed anguish at it. He is now under scanner for allegedly demanding and receiving ₹1 crore to settle a cyber-fraud case, as reported in the media. The complaint alleges the money was transferred in two ₹50-lakh instalments through hawala channels in May 2026. The complainant submitted alleged WhatsApp chats and call recordings as evidence. A Special CBI Court in Delhi has issued notices and sought an Action Taken Report from the Chhattisgarh DGP and CBI Director on what action has been taken regarding the allegations.

Why is there suddenly such an aggressive push against American data centers and AI infrastructure? After seeing a major spike in coordinated opposition campaigns around our Utah projects, we conducted a digital audit and traced a large amount of the activity back to an organization called Alliance for a Better Utah, which has been pushing misinformation throughout Box Elder County about our data center developments. What’s even more concerning is where the funding appears to originate. After reviewing IRS Form 990 filings and tracing the network behind it, the money appears tied to Chinese linked funding channels connected through an organization called Arabella. Think about the incentive, if China is racing to dominate AI and compute capacity, why wouldn’t they want to slow American infrastructure down?

In the 1970s, several species of Asian carp were brought in as foreign workers to do the low-skill, labor-intensive jobs that native fish supposedly couldn’t handle at scale. The carp performed the task efficiently at first, and their population size remained relatively contained. Over time, the carp escaped into the broader ecosystem. Their numbers exploded. They consumed the resources the native species depended on, outcompeted local populations, and turned the environment into a chaotic and dangerous mess for all involved. For decades the official response was to throw hundreds of millions of dollars at the problem. Nothing worked. The invaders kept spreading anyway. The carp had anchored themselves through mass reproduction. Turns out the real solution was already swimming in the same waters. Strong native predators like the blue catfish began devouring the invaders whole. These were the all American fish who had been held back and kept down for years. Once they were allowed to operate at full strength, they controlled the explosion naturally and at no extra cost to the system. The expensive interventions mostly failed. The natives who were built for this kind of competition succeeded. The solution was to allow the native fish to do what they had been built to do all along: defend their homes and offspring with all the ferocity of a mother grizzly. I hope you enjoyed this story that is only about fish.
