But it gets worse… In Joliet, IL, ICE agents jumped out of their cars, racially profiled a man, began handcuffing him, and forced him into an unmarked vehicle that had its license plate covered. And they did all of this before even confirming who he was. As U.S. citizens began recording the incident, ICE agents started forcing them farther back, even though they were not interfering with the arrest. One of the agents looked at a teenager, who was just standing there and filming, and said, “Step back a little bit.” The teenager wasn’t interfering. In fact, a woman was standing even closer. And then, without warning, the ICE agent violently shoved the teenager to the ground. Moments later, another ICE agent pulled out a taser and threatened the legal observers, despite them remaining away from the vehicle, and not interfering. And after all of that, about 20 minutes later… ICE released the man they had kidnapped because they realized he was not undocumented. Think about how insane that is… A man was detained, handcuffed, and taken away before ICE even confirmed they had the right person. That’s exactly why the Fourth Amendment exists… to protect people from unreasonable seizures by the government. And then there is the issue of an ICE agent shoving a teenager to the ground… Using significant physical force against someone, especially a teenager, who is not posing an immediate threat, not resisting, and not interfering… is excessive force. Federal agents do not get a free pass to assault teenagers because they are standing nearby. The First Amendment protects the right to record law enforcement in public, and government officials cannot use intimidation, or force, to silence people who are lawfully documenting their actions. This wasn’t just about one man being kidnapped…. It was about everyone standing there. A teenager was thrown to the ground. Legal observers were threatened. U.S. citizens exercising their constitutional rights were intimidated. And an innocent man lost 20 minutes of his freedom because ICE believes they are allowed to kidnap anyone they want. It seems that Republicans are trying to gaslight everyone into believing that Dayanne Figueroa rammed into an ICE agent’s car… So let’s break down the video, frame by frame. 1. This is Chicago… a dense, urban area with traffic in every direction. 2. The street is two-way… you can clearly see another car driving toward the camera. 3. The ICE agent, in an unmarked vehicle, is sitting in the road. 4. They then make a very wide turn… onto the left side of the road. 5. At this point, the agent is driving on the wrong side of the road. 6. The ICE agent, seemingly unaware of their surroundings (never ideal while driving in a major city), tries to enter the correct lane… without signaling, and without checking to see if someone’s already in that lane. 7. And it turns out, someone was already in that lane… Note: A federal agent, in an unmarked vehicle, does not have the right of way unless they have their 🚨 on. An ICE agent was struck by a suspect's vehicle during an attempted arrest in New Jersey, and then opened fire as the driver sped away. The confrontation unfolded along Route 72 in Manahawkin shortly as federal immigration agents moved in to take a suspect into custody. Authorities say the vehicle was hit by gunfire, but the suspect managed to escape and remains on the run. Police say they were not involved in the ICE operation and there is currently no known threat to the public.

And this all happened in a busy gas station parking lot… In the video, a person is recording while walking toward the sidewalk… When suddenly, an ICE agent draws his firearm, turns around, and points his gun directly at the unarmed U.S. citizen. And just to be clear… No one was attacking him, rushing toward him, or even armed with any sort of weapon. In fact, no one was even close enough to pose an immediate physical threat. Then, the agent, with his gun still drawn, orders a car to move. As it backs up, he recklessly sweeps his loaded firearm across multiple unarmed people… including a MINOR… who are standing on a public sidewalk, legally record from a distance. The person filming keeps asking… “What’s the threat?” Because the video clearly doesn’t show one. Moments later, the same agent points his gun at the person filming, AGAIN. Then, a shirtless man walks around the vehicle to see what’s happening, and the agent immediately points the gun at him, too. At this point, a second ICE agent is seen, standing on the side of the car, with HIS gun drawn, too. And after all of that… The man, they were demanding papers from, walks away because he wasn’t undocumented. And the ICE agents get into their car and leave. Federal officers are trained to draw their firearms only when they reasonably believe there is an imminent threat of death, or serious bodily harm. Every time a loaded firearm is pointed at someone, there is a risk of a tragic mistake… especially in a public place where innocent bystanders could be caught in the middle. And once again… recording federal agents, from a public place, is protected by the First Amendment, so long as you are not interfering with their duties. And no one was interfering… or even near them. So, what exactly justified having multiple firearms drawn, and pointed at unarmed people, in a crowded gas station parking lot? This wasn’t just dangerous for the people filming… It was dangerous for everyone in that parking lot. And this video is just another example of what happens when poorly trained ICE agents aren’t held accountable.

In the video, three ICE agents are already on top of the man. One agent is holding his legs, another is sitting on him, and a third is restraining his arms and putting him in handcuffs. Then, the agent sitting on him starts punching him directly in the head. The man has one hand handcuffed and is using his other hand to try to shield his head from the punches. The person filming yells, “Hey!” The agent looks directly at them… And then seconds later punches the man in the head AGAIN. ICE agents do NOT get unlimited permission to beat someone just because they are arresting them. The Fourth Amendment protects people from unreasonable force during an arrest. BREAKING: Woman shot and killed by ICE agent during altercation in Minneapolis. This is a developing situation. — Video analysis provided by Josh Brooks : Cell phone footage recorded near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue shows members of ICE attempting to clear a blocked road during on-going operations in the Minneapolis area. It's unclear exactly what caused the individual driving the vehicle to block the road, but it's likely that the person was attempting to impede ICE operations in the area which is fairly normal for downtown Minneapolis. After several seconds, the vehicle in question attempts to drive away from the ICE agents that are confronting the driver. The wheels of the suspect vehicle slip on the ice before the driver gets traction and starts to speed away from the scene, prompting the ICE agents to open fire, killing the driver and causing them to crash into an adjacent power pole and vehicle. Due to the angle of the recording camera, it's unclear if the ICE agent was in front of the vehicle, which would likely justify the shooting as cars are commonly referred to as deadly weapons when the driver turns them into a battering ram against law enforcement.

🚨ICE agents pulled a man over, accused him of a traffic violation that his own DASH CAM disproved, then illegally used that stop to demand his immigration status, in Pittsburgh. And this is exactly what it looks like when a traffic stop becomes an illegal fishing expedition… for immigration status. In this video, ICE agents surround the man’s car, with what appears to be a police vehicle behind him. A masked ICE agent aggressively approaches the passenger window while another ICE agent goes to the driver’s window and demands his ID. ICE agents are federal immigration officers, they aren’t local police… So, why are ICE agents the ones surrounding this car, confronting the people inside, and accusing the driver of a traffic violation… while the cop appears to walk up afterward? If this was actually a traffic stop, why is the cop not initiating and enforcing the traffic violation? The driver asks why he is being stopped. The agent tells him he was “riding that guy’s ass” and claims he was following the vehicle too closely. Except there’s a problem… his dash cam video shows the exact opposite. He was traveling in his lane when another car… coming from a merge lane… pulled directly in front of him. That is the moment ICE agents appear to turn on their lights, since the driver slows down and pulls over. So, he understandably says, “Me? I wasn’t following anybody.” The agent doubles down, claiming he was too close and that he “has to be a car length away.” Then, they demand that both people get out of the vehicle. The passenger is taken by ICE, while another agent asks the driver whether he has any weapons. And then comes the real reason for the stop… “Are you allowed to be here? Are you illegal? Are you allowed to be in this country?” The driver tells them he has his resident card and hands it over. Eventually, they let him go. And THIS is where the constitutional violations become impossible to ignore. The Fourth Amendment protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures. A traffic stop is a seizure, meaning the government needs reasonable suspicion that a traffic violation, or crime, actually occurred. Even during a lawful traffic stop, officers cannot prolong the stop to investigate an unrelated matter without additional reasonable suspicion. So, when the alleged traffic violation turns into demands for identification, orders to exit the vehicle, questions about whether the people in the car are “illegal,” and an immigration-status check… the Fourth Amendment comes into question. And the fact that they eventually let this man go, after determining he was lawfully present, makes this even more disturbing. Because what exactly was the point of stopping him? He clearly wasn’t violating any tailgating law. So this wasn’t a legitimate traffic stop…it was a fabricated pretext to investigate his immigration status. And that is precisely why the Constitution exists. Because the government doesn’t get to say, “We wanted to check who you are, so we made up a reason to stop you.” And ICE does not get a free pass to stop Americans, and legal residents, and demand they prove their citizenship. The government has to follow the law, too.
